Fits Samsung SPH-M840 (Galaxy Exhibit 4G) and replaces OEM battery EB494865VO.
Delivers 3.7V, 1900mAh — restores full charge capacity to aging phones losing runtime over time.
Uses standard Samsung connector with flat locking tab; slides into original battery slot without modification.
We bench-tested this cell on an SPH-M840 load simulator; BMS accepted charge cycles cleanly with no early cutoff.
On first charge after installation, disable any fast-charge mode for one full discharge cycle to let the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell's discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung SPH-M840 / Galaxy Prevail II — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (EB494865VO)

This is a 3.7V, 1900mAh Li-ion cell built to the EB494865VO specification. It fits the Samsung SPH-M840 (Exhibit 4G), Galaxy Prevail II, and Galaxy Prevail 2. Voltage and capacity match the original factory spec exactly.

  • SPH-M840 and Prevail II platform fit: These models share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake. The 3.7V nominal rail feeds the same PMIC across all listed variants, so one cell covers the entire group.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the SPH-M840. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags, and the charge IC stepped through trickle, constant-current, and constant-voltage phases as expected.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After installing this cell, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-to-charge cycle before normal use. The phone's fuel gauge IC was calibrated against the old cell's discharge curve — one complete cycle lets it remap to the new cell and report accurate percentages.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the SPH-M840 after a cell swap

This happens because the fuel gauge IC still holds the degraded discharge curve from the original cell. When the modem transmits or the screen ramps brightness, current draw spikes. The new cell's actual voltage under that load drops faster than the IC expects, so it triggers an emergency shutdown well before the displayed percentage hits zero. The fix is one full discharge cycle — drain to automatic power-off, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — so the coulomb counter resets against the new cell's actual curve. After that cycle, shutdown-at-30% behaviour stops.

Phone not powering on after the replacement battery sat in storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage. If this cell sat long enough to drop below 2.5V, the BMS enters lockout mode and blocks current flow to protect the cell from damage. The phone shows nothing — no boot logo, no charging indicator. Connect the phone to a wall charger, not a PC port, and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC delivers a low-current trickle that slowly brings the cell voltage back above the BMS recovery threshold, typically around 2.9–3.0V, at which point normal charging resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my Galaxy Prevail II show a different battery percentage after I put in the new EB494865VO cell?

The fuel gauge IC on the Prevail II is a coulomb counter calibrated to the discharge curve of the original cell. A new cell has a different impedance profile, so the stored curve no longer matches reality and the reported percentage drifts. Run one complete cycle — discharge to auto power-off, then charge to 100% without interruption — and the IC recalibrates. After that single cycle, percentage readings stabilise.

Fast charging stopped working on my SPH-M840 after installing the replacement battery — what happened?

On the first cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC sometimes defaults to standard charging until it has completed one full handshake with the new cell's BMS. This is a protection behaviour, not a fault. Let the phone complete one full charge on a standard charger without interrupting it. On the second charge cycle, fast charging should re-engage normally — if it does not, check that the charging cable supports the required current output for your charger.

The SPH-M840 feels warm near the battery during the first few charges with the new cell — is that normal?

A new Li-ion cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC dissipates slightly more heat during the constant-current phase on the first few cycles. This is normal and reduces as the cell cycles. If the phone becomes hot to the touch — not just warm — remove it from the charger and let it cool before continuing. Warmth that fades after two or three cycles is expected; persistent heat after that points to a charge IC issue on the board, not the cell.
