Fits Opticon 15101 and OPN-2500 barcode scanners; replaces OEM part AHB582025.
3.7V, 250mAh Li-Polymer cell restores full scan power and wireless connectivity to aging devices.
Connector seats into the scanner battery slot with positive contact facing the spring terminal.
We bench-tested this cell in an OPN-2500 cradle; BMS accepted charge at standard dock voltage with no fault codes.
After installing, place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before field use — scan trigger inrush is highest on first shift and a pre-charged cell prevents false BMS trips.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Opticon OPN-2500 / 15101 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (AHB582025)

This is a 3.7V, 250mAh Li-Polymer cell built to the AHB582025 specification. It fits the Opticon 15101 and OPN-2500 handheld barcode scanners. Physical dimensions are 26.90 × 19.70 × 6.00mm — confirm against the original cell before installing.

  • OPN-2500 and 15101 platform fit: Both models share the same compact housing, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell covers both. The 3.7V nominal rail matches what the onboard scan engine and Bluetooth radio expect.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated scan-trigger and wireless polling loads. The BMS held stable charge acceptance and did not trip during combined radio-plus-laser draw.
  • First-shift cradle protocol: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle for a complete charge cycle before pulling it into pick-and-pack work. Scan-trigger inrush current peaks when the cell is near minimum — a fully charged cell prevents false BMS trips on the first heavy shift.

Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack

Charging docks on the OPN-2500 read pack state through pogo-pin contacts. Oxidation or residue on those contacts raises resistance enough that the dock reports a fault rather than initiating a charge cycle. Wipe the contacts on both the scanner and the cradle with a dry cloth, then reseat the unit firmly. If the error clears, let the pack charge to 4.2V before use.

Scanner not reading barcodes immediately after battery swap

Replacement cells ship at a partial state of charge — often below the threshold the OPN-2500 scan engine needs to fire reliably. The laser or imager may activate but output falls short of what the decoder requires, producing missed reads or no read at all. Place the scanner in the cradle and charge fully before the first scan session. Once the cell reaches operating voltage, read performance returns to normal.

Frequently Asked Questions

My OPN-2500 keeps dropping its Bluetooth connection mid-scan burst — could the new battery be causing this?

Yes. During a rapid scan burst, the scanner draws current for both the scan engine and the Bluetooth radio simultaneously. If the cell voltage sags under that combined load, the radio drops its connection before the scan engine does. We tested this pack through back-to-back burst sequences and saw no voltage sag triggering a dropout — but if it happens to you, charge the pack fully to 4.2V first, as a partially charged cell will sag harder under peak draw.

The scanner feels noticeably warm after a long warehouse shift on the new battery — is that normal?

Some warmth is expected. The OPN-2500 housing is compact and encloses both the wireless radio and the scan engine, so sustained draw during an extended shift has nowhere to dissipate easily. What you should not feel is heat that makes the unit uncomfortable to hold — that points to a charging fault or a short inside the pack. Check that the cell is seated flat with no pressure on the casing, and confirm the dock is not pushing charge current above the rated 0.93Wh capacity.

The replacement pack seems to run out faster than the original did when it was new — what shortens shift endurance on these scanners?

Two loads compound each other on the OPN-2500: scan-trigger frequency and Bluetooth polling interval. High scan rates in dense pick-and-pack work draw more from a 250mAh cell than light intermittent use, and a short wireless polling interval keeps the radio active between scans. Check the device's Bluetooth polling setting in the scanner configuration utility and extend the interval if the application allows — that alone reduces idle radio draw and stretches shift endurance without changing hardware.
