Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Opticon H-32 / H-32A Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (13224)
This 3.7V 1800mAh Li-ion battery replaces part number 13224 in the Opticon H-32, H-32A, H32, and H32A handheld barcode scanners. These mobile data terminals are used in retail point-of-sale, warehousing, and inventory pick-and-pack operations. Dimensions are 53.19 × 35.67 × 11.43mm — check your original pack before ordering if your unit has been serviced before.
- H-32 and H-32A compatibility: Both the H-32 and H-32A variants share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The 13224 part number covers both. No adapter or firmware change is needed.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on the H-32 platform. The BMS communicated correctly with the host device, accepted cradle charging without error flags, and held voltage within spec across repeated scan-trigger inrush events.
- First-shift preparation: After installing, seat the scanner in its charging cradle and run a full charge cycle before using it on a pick-and-pack shift. Scan trigger inrush current is highest when the cell is near minimum charge — a pre-charged pack prevents false BMS cutoffs during your first burst of scans.
Cradle charging error on a new pack — what triggers it
The H-32 cradle checks contact resistance before initiating a charge cycle. If the gold contacts on the battery or dock have oxidation or residue from handling, resistance reads high and the cradle throws a charge error rather than start. This is not a faulty battery. Wipe the battery contacts and cradle pins with a dry cloth, reseat the unit firmly, and the error clears. If it persists, confirm cradle output voltage is 4.2V at the contact pins.
Scanner drops wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
During a fast scan burst, the H-32 draws current simultaneously from the imager, the processor, and the wireless radio. If the battery voltage sags below the radio module's minimum rail voltage, the wireless link drops before the scanner powers off. This is distinct from a dead battery — the unit stays on but loses its connection to the host. A battery with degraded cells triggers this at higher states of charge than a fresh pack. If the previous battery held connection and this one does not, verify the replacement pack is fully charged before diagnosing further — voltage at rest should read 4.1V or above.

Frequently Asked Questions
My H-32 scanner stopped reading barcodes after I put in the new battery — what's wrong?
The imager and laser in the H-32 need the battery at sufficient charge before the scan trigger will fire at full power. If the replacement pack shipped at low state of charge, the first trigger pull may produce a weak or failed read rather than a clean scan. Place the scanner in the cradle and charge it fully — resting voltage should reach 4.1V or above — then retry. If it still fails to read, check that the battery is fully seated and the contacts are clean.
The H-32 feels warm after a long warehouse shift — is that a battery issue?
Sustained scanning combined with continuous wireless polling generates steady current draw inside an enclosed plastic housing, and some surface warmth is normal. What matters is whether the scanner throttles scan speed or drops connection near the end of the shift — that signals voltage sag rather than just heat. If the unit stays warm but scans and connects consistently through the shift, the battery is performing correctly. If throttling or disconnects appear in the last portion of the shift, the cell may not be reaching a full 4.2V charge — check cradle contact cleanliness and confirm the cradle is outputting correct voltage.
The H-32 shows a low battery warning much earlier in the shift than the old battery did — why?
The H-32 calculates battery state by measuring cell voltage under load. A new cell that was not fully charged before first use will hit the low-voltage threshold earlier than expected, because it started the shift below 4.1V. This is not a capacity defect — it resolves after one or two full charge cycles in the cradle. If early low-battery warnings continue after three full cycles, confirm the cradle is delivering 4.2V at the contact pins and that the pack contacts are free of debris.
