Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Orange SPV M650 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (ARTE160)
This is a 3.7V, 2400mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Orange SPV M650 smartphone. It fits the original battery bay using the same connector and cell format as the factory unit. OEM part references are ARTE160 and 35H00062-04M.
- SPV M650 fit: The M650 uses a single-cell Li-ion pack with a proprietary connector that carries both power and fuel gauge data back to the Windows Mobile charge IC. This cell matches that footprint — 51.43 × 38.47 × 13.08mm — and the BMS communicates correctly with the onboard fuel gauge hardware.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and load on the bench. The BMS held cutoff cleanly at low voltage and accepted charge from the standard SPV M650 charge circuit without tripping the protection circuitry.
- First-cycle fuel gauge reset: After fitting this cell, run one full uninterrupted discharge to near-empty, then charge to 100% before normal use. The M650's fuel gauge IC was calibrated to your worn original cell — one complete cycle lets it re-anchor the discharge curve to the new 2400mAh cell and stop reporting inaccurate percentages.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the SPV M650
This is a voltage cliff failure, not a calibration issue. When the M650 pulls peak current for screen backlight, GSM radio bursts, or data sync, an aged or high-impedance cell drops its terminal voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold — even though the fuel gauge still shows charge remaining. The phone interprets the voltage collapse as a dead cell and shuts down instantly. Fitting a fresh 2400mAh cell with lower internal impedance eliminates the sag that triggers that cutoff. After fitting, run a full calibration cycle so the fuel gauge maps the new voltage curve correctly from 100% down to 3.0V.
Phone won't power on after the battery sat in storage
Li-ion cells in storage self-discharge slowly. If the SPV M650 was stored for several months with the battery installed, the cell may have dropped below 2.5V — the threshold where the BMS locks out to prevent damage. The phone will show no response to the power button and may not register on the charger immediately. Connect the phone to its original charger and leave it untouched for 20–30 minutes — the charge IC will trickle current into the cell until it recovers above the BMS re-enable threshold, typically around 2.9V, at which point normal charging resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions
My SPV M650 shows 25% battery and just cuts off without warning — why?
This is a voltage sag issue at the cell level. Under peak GSM radio or screen load, an aged cell drops terminal voltage faster than the fuel gauge can track — the BMS hits its low-voltage cutoff while the percentage display still reads 25% or higher. A fresh 2400mAh cell has lower internal impedance, so voltage holds stable under load instead of collapsing. After fitting, do one full discharge-to-empty and full recharge so the fuel gauge IC resets its cutoff mapping to the new cell's discharge curve.
The battery percentage on my M650 jumps around — it went from 60% to 85% without charging. Is the new battery faulty?
The battery itself is fine — the fuel gauge IC is the issue. The M650 uses a coulomb-counter-based fuel gauge that was calibrated against your original worn cell. When you fit a new 2400mAh cell with a different discharge curve, the IC's stored model no longer matches the actual charge state, so it outputs erratic percentages. Run one complete uninterrupted discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. That single full cycle gives the fuel gauge IC enough real data to re-anchor its model to the new cell.
The M650 feels warm near the battery during the first few charges after fitting the new cell — is that normal?
Mild warmth on the first few charge cycles is expected. A new cell starts with slightly higher impedance than a broken-in one, so the charge IC dissipates a little more energy as heat while pushing current into it. The warmth should reduce noticeably after three to five full charge cycles as the cell's impedance settles. If the device stays hot to the touch or the warmth doesn't decrease after several cycles, check that the battery contacts are clean and seated flat — a partially seated connector increases resistance at the joint, not just at the cell.
