Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

UBiQUiO 401 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (UBI-4-1300)

This 3.7V Li-ion battery replaces the original UBI-4-1300 cell in the UBiQUiO 401 smartphone. Capacity is 1700mAh (6.29Wh), matching the OEM specification. It restores normal device function when the original cell has degraded or lost the ability to hold a charge.

  • UBiQUiO 401 fitment: The 401 uses a fixed-connector cell at 3.7V nominal. This replacement matches that voltage rail and connector pinout so the phone's charge IC and BMS communicate without fault codes or refused charge cycles.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge runs on the bench. The BMS accepted charge correctly, protection circuits triggered at the expected low-voltage cutoff, and the charge IC showed no handshake errors during the session.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC build an accurate discharge curve against the new cell before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated state.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the UBiQUiO 401 after a cell swap

The 401's fuel gauge IC stores a learned discharge curve from the old cell. When you install a new cell, that stored curve no longer matches real-world voltage behaviour. Under modem or screen load, the phone's voltage drops faster than the IC expects, and the device shuts down before the percentage reaches zero. This is not a fault with the replacement cell — it is a calibration gap. Run one full discharge from 100% down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that cycle the IC recalibrates and reported percentage tracks actual cell voltage correctly.

UBiQUiO 401 won't power on after sitting in storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage. If the cell drops below approximately 2.5V per cell, the BMS enters a lockout state and blocks normal charging to prevent damage. The phone shows no response when connected to a charger. Connect the device to a low-current USB source — a laptop port or a 5W charger — and leave it connected for 15 to 20 minutes without pressing the power button. This allows a trickle pre-charge to bring the cell above the BMS re-enable threshold, typically around 3.0V, after which normal charging resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions

My UBiQUiO 401 shuts off at around 25% battery — is that a fault with the new cell?

No — it is a fuel gauge calibration issue. The phone's coulomb counter was calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve, so it misjudges the voltage cliff on the new cell under screen or modem load. Run one full uninterrupted discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge straight to 100% without interruption. After that single cycle the fuel gauge tracks the new cell accurately and shutdowns at 25% stop.

The UBiQUiO 401 feels warm near the battery while charging after I fitted this replacement — is something wrong?

A new cell typically has slightly higher internal impedance than a well-cycled one. The charge IC pushes current into higher resistance on the first few cycles, which generates more heat than you'd see on a worn cell. This settles after three to five charge cycles as the cell conditions. If the phone stays warm well past the point the status bar shows a full charge, check that the charger output is 5V and not forcing a higher voltage into the charge IC.

After replacing the battery in my UBiQUiO 401, the percentage jumps around erratically — 60% one minute, 45% the next.

This is the fuel gauge IC recalibrating against an unfamiliar cell. The IC uses a stored model of the old cell's voltage-to-capacity curve; with a new cell installed, small voltage readings map to wildly different percentage estimates until the model is updated. One complete discharge-charge cycle — fully down to shutdown, fully up to 100% — gives the IC enough data to rebuild its curve. After that cycle the percentage should stabilise and track smoothly down from 100%.
