Dopod M700 / P800 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (ARTE160)

This is a 3.7V, 2400mAh Li-ion cell for the Dopod M700, P800, and P800w smartphones. It replaces OEM part numbers ARTE160 and 35H00062-04M. Install this when the original cell no longer holds charge or causes unexpected shutdowns.

• M700, P800, and P800w compatibility: These three models share the same battery bay dimensions (51.43 × 38.47 × 13.08mm), 3.7V nominal rail, and connector pinout — one cell fits all three without modification.
• Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the M700 platform. The BMS accepted charge handshake on first connection, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold without locking the device out.
• Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle before resuming normal use. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated state.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Dopod M700

This happens when the cell voltage drops sharply under load from the modem or screen backlight — a voltage cliff the fuel gauge IC misreads as 20–30% remaining. The gauge was calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve, so it reports a false floor. The phone hits the hardware undervoltage cutoff before the OS sees 0%. One full discharge-charge cycle resets the coulomb counter and corrects the floor.

OS reporting wrong percentage after cell swap

The fuel gauge IC stores a learned discharge model for the previous cell. A new cell with different internal resistance shifts the voltage-to-capacity curve, so the OS reads inaccurate percentages — often jumping erratically or stalling at a fixed number. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. Drain the battery until the device shuts off, then charge uninterrupted to 100% to force the IC to relearn the curve. After one complete cycle, percentage reporting stabilises.
