Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Orange SPV M700 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (35H00077-00M)
This is a 3.7V, 1250mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Orange SPV M700 Windows Mobile smartphone. It fits the original battery slot and matches the OEM part numbers 35H00077-00M and TRIN160. If the original cell has degraded past the point of holding a usable charge, this replaces it directly.
- SPV M700 fitment: The M700 uses a slim Li-Polymer cell at 66.50 x 44.00 x 4.50mm — a form factor specific to this handset. The connector and BMS communication line match the original HTC-platform hardware that Orange branded for this device.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full discharge and charge sequences and confirmed the BMS held charge acceptance within spec. The protection circuit tripped correctly at low-voltage cutoff and recovered without issue on recharge.
- Fuel gauge recalibration after install: On first use, run one complete discharge down to auto-shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before using the device normally. The M700's fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve — a full cycle resets it against the new cell so percentage readings stabilise.
Why the SPV M700 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The M700 uses a coulomb-counting fuel gauge IC that builds its capacity model from historical charge and discharge data. When the original cell is replaced, the IC is still referencing the old cell's degraded discharge curve. This causes the percentage display to read high early in discharge and then drop sharply. One full discharge-to-shutoff followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% forces the IC to relearn the curve against the new cell. After that single cycle, percentage readings will track correctly.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% remaining on the replacement cell
This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet recalibrated and the phone hits voltage cutoff earlier than the displayed percentage suggests. Under screen or radio load, the cell voltage sags — if the IC hasn't mapped the new cell's voltage-to-capacity relationship, it doesn't predict the cliff correctly. The result is an abrupt shutdown well above 0% shown on screen. Run one full discharge cycle to auto-shutoff first, then recharge to 100%. After recalibration, the gauge will catch the voltage drop early enough to give an accurate low-battery warning before cutoff.

Frequently Asked Questions
The SPV M700 shows 25% battery and then cuts off with no warning — is the new cell faulty?
The cell is almost certainly fine. The fuel gauge IC on the M700 was calibrated to the old degraded cell's discharge curve, so it doesn't know where the new cell's voltage cliff sits under load. When the screen or radio draws current, voltage sags past the cutoff threshold before the gauge reaches 0%. Run one complete discharge to auto-shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that single calibration cycle, shutdowns at 20–30% stop.
The phone won't switch on at all after the replacement battery sat uninstalled for a few months — what happened?
Li-Polymer cells self-discharge in storage. If the cell dropped below approximately 2.5V, the BMS entered lockout mode to prevent cell damage — and the phone will show no signs of life. Connect the charger and leave it for at least 30–45 minutes without attempting to power on. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell until voltage climbs above the BMS recovery threshold, at which point the phone will respond normally.
The M700 feels noticeably warm near the battery compartment during the first few charges — is something wrong?
A new high-impedance Li-Polymer cell generates more heat during initial charge cycles than a broken-in cell does. The charge IC has to push current into a cell with higher internal resistance until the first few cycles lower it. This warmth is normal for the first two to three charges and will reduce. If the back of the phone becomes uncomfortable to hold or charging stops abnormally early, disconnect and let the device cool to room temperature before resuming — then check that the battery contacts are seated flat with no gap.
