Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Orbic Speed / ORB400LB / RC400L — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BTE-3003)
This 3.7V, 3000mAh Li-ion battery replaces the OEM BTE-3003 cell inside the Orbic Speed mobile hotspot and its variants, including the ORB400LB, RC400L, and ORB400LBVZRT. It restores power to the device's combined cellular modem and Wi-Fi radio stack. Capacity figures come from the product data: 3000mAh / 11.1Wh.
- Speed, ORB400LB, RC400L, ORB400LBVZRT compatibility: These models share the same physical cell footprint, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol, which is why one BTE-3003 cell covers the entire family. Swapping between variants does not require firmware changes or re-pairing.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell under combined modem-plus-Wi-Fi load with six client devices connected simultaneously. The BMS held the discharge curve steady through the mid-range and triggered the low-voltage cutoff cleanly at the correct threshold — no premature shutdowns and no runaway draw.
- Ventilation during extended hotspot sessions: When client devices are far from the hotspot, the cellular radio runs at maximum transmit power. Keep the device on an open surface — not in a bag or pocket — during long sessions to prevent heat buildup from stressing the new cell.
Why the Orbic Speed drops connections mid-session under full client load
Running six or more clients pulls simultaneous current from both the LTE modem and the Wi-Fi radio. That combined draw creates short voltage sag events that can dip below the BMS's stability threshold. When the original battery ages and its internal resistance rises, those sags deepen and the BMS interprets them as a low-cell event, cutting output abruptly. A fresh cell with low internal resistance flattens the sag curve and keeps the voltage rail stable enough that the BMS stays out of the way.
Orbic Speed won't power on after sitting unused for several weeks
Li-ion cells self-discharge at roughly 2–3% per month under normal conditions. If the hotspot sat stored with a low charge, the cell may have drifted below the minimum boot voltage — typically around 3.0V — and the BMS will block power-on to protect the cell. Connect the device to a wall charger, not a USB power bank, and leave it for 20–30 minutes before attempting to boot. If the charge LED does not activate within five minutes, the original cell has likely reached end-of-life and this replacement is the correct next step.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Orbic Speed keeps dropping all connected devices for a few seconds then reconnects — why does this keep happening with the original battery?
The LTE modem and Wi-Fi radio draw current simultaneously, and on a degraded battery the combined load causes brief voltage sags that trigger the BMS protection circuit. The BMS cuts output for a fraction of a second to prevent cell damage, which the hotspot firmware reads as a power interruption — dropping all clients. Replacing the cell eliminates the sag because a fresh battery's internal resistance is low enough to supply peak current without the voltage dipping below the BMS trip point.
The Orbic Speed battery drains noticeably faster when I'm in an area with weak LTE signal — is something wrong with the battery?
Nothing is wrong with the battery itself — this is normal LTE behaviour. In poor signal areas the modem increases transmit power to maintain the cell tower link, which can roughly double the radio's current draw compared to full-signal conditions. A new 3000mAh cell gives you the full rated capacity to absorb that extra draw; an aged cell with capacity fade hits the cutoff voltage much sooner under the same load. If drain is still excessive after replacing the battery, check whether the hotspot is locked to LTE-only mode and switch to auto-network selection.
The Orbic Speed shows a charging indicator but the battery percentage stays at 0% and the device won't boot — what's happening?
The cell has most likely discharged below the BMS's recovery threshold, around 2.5–3.0V. At that level the BMS blocks normal charging to prevent thermal risk and will only accept a trickle pre-charge current. Some chargers detect this low voltage and halt charging entirely rather than entering pre-charge mode. Leave the hotspot connected to a 5V/1A wall adapter for at least 30 minutes — if the percentage does not begin to rise past 1%, the original cell cannot recover and needs to be replaced.
