Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Panasonic KX-TG6433M / KX-TG1032PK Series — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (HHR-4DPA)
This is a 2.4V, 700mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Panasonic KX-TG6433M and compatible cordless phone handsets. It replaces OEM part numbers HHR-4DPA and HHR-55AAABU. The battery fits directly into the handset battery compartment and connects to the charging contacts that interface with the base station.
- KX-TG6433M, KX-TG1032PK, KX-TG8231B, KX-TG1032S and 123 additional models: These handsets share the same 2.4V dual-cell NiMH pack format, identical connector pitch, and the same base station charging circuit voltage range — one battery spec covers the entire platform.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the base station charging circuit on KX-TG series hardware. The BMS accepted the charge handshake without error lights, and the pack reached rated voltage within the standard 16-hour slow-charge window.
- First-charge protocol for NiMH cordless packs: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells in storage lose electrolyte conditioning — skipping this step leaves the pack 20–30% below rated capacity from day one.
Talk time shorter than expected after swapping the battery
NiMH cells shipped in storage state are not at full capacity on arrival — this is normal, not a defect. The cells need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before they reach the 700mAh rating. Each cycle through the base station re-conditions the electrodes and progressively restores capacity. If talk time is still noticeably short after five cycles, measure resting voltage with a multimeter — a healthy charged pack reads between 2.7V and 2.8V.
Base station shows no charge light or error light after battery swap
The KX-TG series base station checks pack voltage before starting a charge cycle. A battery that has discharged below roughly 2.0V during storage sits outside the acceptance window, so the base reads it as a fault. Remove the handset, leave it out of the base for 30 seconds, then reseat it firmly so all three charging contacts are flush. If the error persists, check resting pack voltage — anything above 2.0V should trigger the charge cycle on reseating.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Panasonic KX-TG6433M handset is draining completely overnight even though it's sitting in the base — is the new battery faulty?
A NiMH pack draining overnight in the base usually means the handset isn't making solid contact with the charging pins, not a faulty cell. Lift the handset out, wipe the three gold contacts on both the handset and base with a dry cloth, then reseat it — you should hear a faint click and see the charge indicator activate within 10 seconds. If the light still doesn't come on, check that resting pack voltage is above 2.0V with a multimeter before assuming the battery is the problem.
The KX-TG6433M handset won't pair with the base station after I replaced the battery — did the swap wipe the pairing?
Yes — some DECT handsets lose their pairing data when power is fully removed from the handset, which happens the moment you pull the old battery. Re-register the handset using the base station's locator or register button: hold the button on the base for roughly two seconds until the registration tone sounds, then follow the handset menu to re-pair. The process takes under a minute and doesn't affect your contacts or settings stored on the base.
The KX-TG6433M range seems worse than before I swapped the battery — could the new pack be causing that?
Range drop after a battery swap on DECT phones is almost always a voltage sag issue, not an antenna or software problem. When a NiMH pack hasn't been fully conditioned, its internal resistance is higher than normal — voltage dips under the RF transmit load, and the handset scales back transmit power to compensate. Run three to five full charge cycles through the base station first. After conditioning, resting voltage on a full charge should read 2.7V–2.8V, and range should return to the original operating radius.
