Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Teledex IPN964591 / IPN965591 Series — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery
This is a 3.7V, 650mAh lithium-polymer battery for the Teledex IPN964591, IPN965591, IPN984591, and IPN985591 cordless phone handsets. It slots into the handset battery compartment and restores the handset to full working operation. Dimensions are 42.15 × 31.00 × 6.34mm — confirm your original cell matches before ordering.
- IPN900-series handset compatibility: The IPN964591, IPN965591, IPN984591, and IPN985591 share the same battery bay dimensions, voltage rail, and connector orientation. One cell fits all four models without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the bench. The protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold and resumed charging without fault when returned to the base.
- First-charge protocol for Li-Polymer handsets: Li-Polymer cells arrive partially charged from storage. After fitting the new battery, seat the handset in the base and allow a full uninterrupted charge before first use — interrupting the first charge cycle can cause the handset to misread the cell's capacity and report a low-battery warning prematurely.
Talk time shorter than expected after replacing the IPN964591 battery
Li-Polymer cells settle into their rated capacity over the first few charge cycles — the first cycle often delivers noticeably less talk time than the specification. This happens because the cell's internal chemistry hasn't yet reached full electrochemical equilibrium after storage. Run two or three complete charge-and-use cycles and talk time will reach the rated 650mAh output. If it doesn't improve after five cycles, check that the handset contacts are clean and making firm contact with the base cradle.
Handset loses DECT pairing after a battery swap
Removing the battery from a DECT handset cuts all power to the registration memory on some Teledex IPN-series units. When power is restored with the new cell, the handset can no longer authenticate with the base station and shows a "searching" or unregistered status. To fix this, re-register the handset from the base station's handset registration menu — typically accessed by holding the page or find button on the base for five seconds until the registration light flashes. Once re-registered, the handset will reconnect at full signal strength.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Teledex IPN964591 handset drains completely overnight even when it's sitting in the base — is the new battery faulty?
This is almost always a seating issue, not a cell fault. If the handset isn't fully clicked down onto the base cradle, the charging contacts don't make a closed circuit and the handset runs entirely on battery in standby. Lift the handset out, check both the handset contacts and the cradle pins for dust or oxidation, then reseat it firmly until it clicks. A correctly seated handset will show the charging indicator within a few seconds of docking.
The base station shows no charge light at all after I fitted the new battery — what's wrong?
A Li-Polymer cell that has discharged deeply during storage can present a voltage low enough that the base station's charge controller refuses to begin a charge cycle. This is a protection feature, not a fault. Connect the handset to the base and leave it undisturbed for 30 to 60 minutes — most Teledex base stations will trickle-feed the cell at a reduced current until it recovers above the acceptance threshold, typically around 3.0V, at which point the normal charge indicator will activate.
The handset signal drops and calls cut out near the edges of a room where it used to work fine — why would a battery swap affect range?
DECT transmit power is regulated by the handset's power management circuit, which draws from the battery. When a Li-Polymer cell's voltage sags under the RF transmission load — common with an aging or poorly seated cell — the handset reduces transmit power to compensate, shrinking effective range. Confirm the new cell is fully charged before testing range: a freshly fitted cell at partial charge will sag more under load than one at full capacity. If range is still reduced after a full charge cycle, clean the handset-to-base contacts with a dry cloth and retest.
