Fits Telematrix IPN964591, IPN965591, IPN984591, IPN985591 cordless handsets; replaces OEM part BATT-IPN.
3.7V, 650mAh lithium-polymer cell delivers full talk and standby time on DECT base pairing.
Connector slides into handset battery slot with positive lead forward; locking tab seats flush against housing.
Bench test showed BMS accepted charge cycle within two hours; voltage held stable under transmit load.
After installation, place handset in base for a full 16-hour charge before first use—lithium-polymer packs need slow initial conditioning to reach rated capacity on DECT platforms.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Telematrix IPN964591 Series — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BATT-IPN)

This 3.7V, 650mAh lithium-polymer battery replaces the original pack in the Telematrix IPN964591, IPN965591, IPN984591, and IPN985591 cordless handsets. It restores talk time and standby capacity to a handset that has stopped holding a charge. Same voltage, same footprint at 42.15 × 31.00 × 6.34mm — it seats correctly in the battery compartment without modification.

  • IPN900-series handset compatibility: These four models share the same battery bay dimensions and 3.7V single-cell architecture. The connector and BMS handshake are identical across the range, so one part number covers all of them.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge and discharge on a DECT handset platform. The BMS held the correct cutoff voltage under both standby and active RF transmit load without triggering a premature shutdown.
  • First-charge protocol for Li-Polymer cordless handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full uninterrupted charge before making any calls. Li-Polymer cells in low-drain standby devices that ship at partial state of charge need one complete cycle to calibrate the handset's fuel gauge correctly.

Talk time shorter than original battery after replacement

A new Li-Polymer cell ships at a storage charge — typically 40–60% of rated capacity. The handset's internal fuel gauge reads this partial state as a full charge until a complete cycle resets it. Run one full charge followed by normal use until the handset signals low battery, then charge it fully again. After that cycle, the fuel gauge recalibrates and talk time reflects the rated 650mAh capacity.

Handset not pairing with base station after battery swap

Removing the battery cuts all power to the DECT module, and some IPN-series handsets clear their pairing data when power is fully lost. The fix is a manual re-registration: place the handset on the base, press and hold the registration button on the base unit until the handset display prompts for a PIN, then enter the default PIN (typically 0000). Once confirmed, the handset reconnects to the base and operates normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Telematrix handset shows a full charge right after I put the new battery in, but the battery dies much faster than I expected — what's going on?

The handset's fuel gauge calibrates against charge cycles, not the physical cell. A new cell shipped at storage charge (around 50%) can register as "full" until the gauge resets. Run one complete charge-to-discharge cycle and the displayed capacity will align with the actual 650mAh rating. Charge fully, use the handset until it signals low battery, then charge again without interruption.

The base station shows no charge light or an error light when I seat the handset with the new battery — how do I fix this?

Li-Polymer cells stored at low voltage can sit below the base station's acceptance threshold, causing the charger circuit to reject the pack rather than charge it. Remove the handset, wait 30 seconds, then reseat it firmly — sometimes a brief disconnect resets the base charge controller. If the error persists, connect a USB charger directly to the handset if a port is available to bring the cell above 3.0V, then return it to the base. Once the cell voltage clears the threshold, the base station will recognise the pack and begin a normal charge cycle.

My Telematrix IPN handset drains completely overnight even when it's sitting in the base — is the battery faulty?

Overnight drain from the base is almost always a seating issue, not a faulty cell. The handset must make full contact with both charge pins on the base cradle — if it's even slightly off-centre, the standby trickle charge doesn't flow and the handset runs on battery alone. Remove the handset, clean the charge contacts on both the handset and base with a dry cloth, and reseat it until you hear or feel it click into position. Confirm the charge indicator lights within 10 seconds of seating.
