Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH2 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (DMW-BLC12)
This 7.4V, 1000mAh Li-ion cell replaces the DMW-BLC12 battery used in the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH2, GH2H, GH2HK, GH2K, and over two dozen additional Lumix bodies sharing the same battery bay and BMS protocol. It delivers the same voltage rail and connector as the OEM cell. Capacity is 1000mAh (7.4Wh) — identical to the factory spec.
- GH2-series compatibility: All DMC-GH2 variants use the same DMW-BLC12 form factor, 7.4V nominal rail, and BMS handshake. One cell covers the entire range without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through the GH2 body under mixed stills and video load. The BMS accepted the cell on first insertion, reported charge level correctly, and held the cutoff voltage at the expected threshold under sustained draw.
- First-use charge cycle on the GH2: Insert the new cell and run a full charge cycle through the camera body or OEM charger before shooting. The GH2's battery-remaining indicator calibrates its voltage-to-percentage mapping during that first cycle — skipping it causes erratic percentage readings from the start.
Why the GH2 drains faster during 1080p video than photo mode
Continuous video recording on the GH2 keeps the sensor, Venus Engine processor, and in-body stabilisation running simultaneously. Still photography draws current in short bursts between shots. Sustained video pulls a steady load that sits well above the average draw during a stills session. A 1000mAh cell at 7.4V gives 7.4Wh of stored energy — that budget depletes faster when the processor and sensor never idle.
Battery percentage jumping in large steps on a new cell
The GH2 maps battery percentage against voltage thresholds calibrated to the discharge curve of its OEM cell. A new replacement cell may sit at a slightly different resting voltage for a given state of charge, causing the indicator to jump from 100% to 70% or skip the middle range entirely. This is a calibration mismatch, not a cell fault. Run two full charge-discharge cycles through the camera body and the indicator will track the new cell's curve accurately.

Frequently Asked Questions
My GH2 shows "no battery" or refuses to recognise the new DMW-BLC12 replacement on first install — what's happening?
The GH2 runs a BMS authentication check when a new cell is inserted. If the resting voltage sits outside the expected window after shipping, the body can reject the cell outright. Remove the battery, reinsert it once, then charge it fully via the camera body or OEM charger before powering on. After one complete charge cycle the body accepts the cell in all cases we have tested.
Shot count is noticeably lower than what I was getting with my old original battery — is the replacement cell weak?
Shot count depends heavily on what's drawing current during a session — continuous autofocus, the electronic viewfinder, image stabilisation, and frequent flash use all add load beyond a basic shutter-and-sensor cycle. A fresh 1000mAh cell at 7.4Wh matches OEM capacity; if counts are still short, check whether IBIS and continuous AF are both active, as that combination alone can cut available shots by a significant margin compared to single-shot AF with the LCD off.
The GH2 body gets noticeably warm under the battery door during long video recording — is that a battery issue or a camera issue?
The heat source is primarily the sensor and Venus Engine processor, not the cell itself. Sustained 1080p recording keeps both running without the idle periods that break up a stills session. The battery does contribute some heat through its internal resistance under continuous draw, but the dominant source is the camera body. If the cell surface feels hot to the touch separately from the camera door, stop the session and let it cool to room temperature before resuming — lithium-ion cells should not exceed 60°C during discharge.
