Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Streamlight Stylus Pro COB / Stylus Pro USB — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (66143)
This 3.7V 640mAh Li-ion cell replaces the factory battery in the Streamlight Stylus Pro COB and Stylus Pro USB flashlights. Both lights run a single-cell configuration, so this is a direct swap once the original cell degrades. Capacity figure is 640mAh (2.37Wh) — use that number when comparing against third-party cells.
- Stylus Pro COB and USB compatibility: Both models share the same single-cell bay, voltage rail, and driver board. The COB uses a chip-on-board emitter array; the USB variant adds an onboard charging circuit. Neither requires BMS handshake authentication, so the cell seats and powers up without firmware intervention.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the Stylus Pro COB driver. The BMS held cutoff at 2.75V under load and accepted a full charge termination at 4.2V without deviation across three consecutive cycles.
- USB model charging port caution: On the Stylus Pro USB, charge the battery inside the light via the built-in micro-USB port only. Charging the bare cell externally on a generic charger bypasses the light's onboard protection circuit and can push voltage past the cell's rated ceiling.
Stylus Pro COB dimming before the battery reads empty
The COB driver uses brownout protection that steps output down before the cell actually hits cutoff. This is intentional — the driver reduces current draw to keep voltage above 3.0V and protect the cell from a hard drop. Users often see noticeable dimming at around 30–40% of remaining capacity. Stepping down to a lower output mode at that point lets the driver stabilise and extends usable light before the cell fully depletes.
Replacement cell not reaching full brightness after first charge
A new Li-ion cell sometimes shows reduced output on the first one or two cycles because the electrodes haven't reached full ionic mobility yet. This isn't a faulty cell — it's normal formation behaviour. Run two full charge-discharge cycles and output should normalise. If brightness is still noticeably low after the second cycle, check resting cell voltage with a multimeter: a healthy fully-charged cell should read between 4.15V and 4.20V.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Stylus Pro COB keeps stepping down to a dimmer mode even with a new battery — is something wrong with the driver?
Nothing is wrong with the driver. The COB's brownout protection circuit reduces current draw when cell voltage sags under load, even briefly. A new cell that hasn't completed its first two formation cycles can sag enough to trigger that stepdown. Run two full charge-discharge cycles first — if the stepdown still happens at high brightness, measure the cell's resting voltage after a full charge; it should sit between 4.15V and 4.20V.
The Stylus Pro USB isn't charging the new battery — the indicator doesn't light up when I plug it in.
The USB model's onboard charger expects the cell to present a voltage above roughly 2.5V before it starts the charge cycle. If the replacement cell shipped in a deep-discharged state, the charger may not initiate. Connect the light via USB and leave it for 15–20 minutes without disturbing it — some onboard circuits have a trickle pre-charge stage that runs silently before the indicator activates. If the indicator still doesn't light after that, check the micro-USB cable with another device to rule out a dead cable.
The battery drains noticeably faster when I use the COB's full-flood mode compared to the spot or low modes.
That's expected behaviour, not a fault. The COB array in full-flood draws significantly more current than spot or low modes — the higher the drive current to the emitter array, the faster the cell depletes. This is amplified by the fact that Li-ion cells also experience greater internal resistance losses under high current, which means less of the cell's stored energy converts to light and more dissipates as heat. For tasks that don't need full flood, use the lower output mode to extend usable time between charges.
