Fits Praktica Luxmedia 10-03, Luxmedia 12-04, Luxmedia 12-Z4 and replaces original 3.7V lithium-ion pack.
3.7V 660mAh capacity delivers sufficient charge for typical point-and-shoot sessions with flash enabled.
Flat connector slides straight into camera battery slot with positive contact on upper edge.
We bench-tested this cell in a Luxmedia body at room temperature; BMS accepted the pack on first insertion with no fault cycle needed.
On initial install, run one full charge cycle inside the camera body before heavy shooting to sync the fuel-gauge display accurately.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Praktica Luxmedia 10-03 / 12-04 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V 660mAh (2.44Wh) lithium-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Praktica Luxmedia 10-03, 12-04, 12-Z4, 12-Z4TS, and compatible compact camera models. It slots into the same battery door and connects to the same contact pins as the factory cell. Voltage and physical dimensions match OEM spec: 40.00 × 31.10 × 5.90mm.

  • Luxmedia series compatibility: These Praktica compacts share a common battery bay size and 3.7V power rail across the 10-03, 12-04, and Z4 variants. The BMS in each body reads cell voltage through the same two-contact interface, so one cell fits the full range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the bench, confirming the BMS accepted the cell and voltage stayed within the 3.7V nominal band throughout draw. No cutoff events triggered under standard camera load.
  • First-use charge cycle in the camera body: Run the first full charge through the camera body rather than a third-party external charger. Some Luxmedia BMS configurations only map the battery-remaining display correctly after completing one charge cycle from within the body itself.

Flash recycling slowing down before the battery indicator drops

The Luxmedia's flash capacitor pulls a sharp recharge current after each shot. As a Li-ion cell ages — or when a replacement cell sits near the lower end of its discharge curve — internal resistance rises enough to slow that capacitor recharge without triggering the low-battery warning. The indicator is tied to resting voltage, not peak current delivery. If flash lag appears while the battery icon still shows partial charge, the cell is likely past its useful capacity window. Swap the cell and retest; lag should disappear in the first ten shots.

Battery percentage jumping erratically on the Luxmedia display

Praktica's compact camera firmware maps battery percentage using voltage thresholds calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve. A replacement cell with a slightly different discharge profile can cause the indicator to jump — showing 80%, dropping to 40%, then climbing again without any real change in charge state. This is a display mapping issue, not a fault with the cell itself. Complete two full charge-discharge cycles through the camera body; the firmware recalibrates its threshold readings against the new cell's actual voltage behaviour.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Praktica Luxmedia shows a dead battery icon straight after I fit the new cell — is the replacement faulty?

It is not faulty. Praktica compact bodies sometimes fail to read a new cell's charge state until the BMS has seen one full charge cycle from within the camera body. Insert the cell, connect the camera to charge via its OEM cable or charger, and let it run to 100% before powering on. After that first cycle the body reads the cell correctly and the icon clears.

The shot count on my Luxmedia is noticeably lower than I expected from a 660mAh cell — what's pulling the extra current?

Flash, continuous autofocus, and optical zoom motor draw all add load beyond what the base shot-count spec assumes. The rated figure is calculated under controlled conditions without sustained flash use. If every shot fires the flash, expect the cell to deplete significantly faster than a flash-off sequence. Reduce flash to auto rather than forced-on and the shot count will climb closer to the cell's rated capacity.

My Luxmedia Luxmedia camera body feels warm after continuous video recording and the battery drains faster than during stills — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong. Video mode runs the image sensor, processor, and any stabilisation circuit simultaneously and without the natural rest periods that occur between still shots. That combined draw is several times higher than single-frame capture load, and heat is a normal by-product. The 660mAh cell is sized for a compact stills camera, not extended video recording. Keep clips short and allow the body to cool between sequences to prevent the BMS from triggering a thermal protection cutoff.
