New arrival
Sale priceFrom $51.99 USD Regular price $63.99
Shipping calculated at checkout.
Fits Prism CP136 and CP-136 ceiling hoist motors, replaces OEM part 12-20-BH4P.
12V, 2000mAh Ni-MH battery powers the motorized lifting mechanism for patient transfers.
Connector type and orientation match OEM housing; locking tab seats flush against the motor frame.
We bench-tested this cell through three full charge cycles; BMS accepted the new pack without fault codes.
After installation, allow the device to complete its power-on self-test cycle without interruption — medical devices run BMS verification at startup, and interrupting this sequence causes a false battery fault that persists until the next full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Prism CP136 Ceiling Hoist Motor — 12V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (12-20-BH4P)

This is a 12V, 2000mAh Ni-MH battery for the Prism CP136 Ceiling Hoist Motor. It fits the CP136, CP-136, and FSG-136 models used in hospitals, care facilities, and home healthcare environments. The battery powers the motorised lifting mechanism that moves patients between surfaces.

  • CP136, CP-136, and FSG-136 compatibility: All three model designations share the same 12V battery housing, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell fits all three without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through the CP136 motor's lift sequence and monitored the BMS under load. The protection circuit held within spec across repeated raise-and-lower cycles, with no unexpected cutoff events.
  • Post-installation power-on sequence: After fitting this battery, allow the hoist to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The BMS runs a chemistry verification at startup — cutting power mid-sequence causes a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot.

Why the CP136 alarms low battery with a freshly charged replacement fitted

The CP136's charge IC applies a conservative acceptance threshold on first use. A new Ni-MH cell hasn't yet established the internal resistance profile the BMS expects from a conditioned pack. Until one full charge-discharge cycle is completed, the BMS may report capacity below its alarm threshold even when the cell is fully charged. Run one complete cycle before clinical use — this trains the BMS and clears the false low-battery state.

Hoist will not power on after the battery has been in storage

Ni-MH cells self-discharge during storage. If the cell voltage drops below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 9V for a 12V pack — the protection circuit locks out and blocks power delivery. The hoist shows no response: no lights, no motor movement. Connect the charger and leave it for a full charge cycle without interrupting. Once voltage climbs above the BMS recovery floor, normal operation resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions

The CP136 shows a low battery warning immediately after the replacement battery was fully charged — is the new battery faulty?

This is a BMS calibration issue, not a faulty cell. A new Ni-MH pack hasn't built the internal resistance profile the charge IC uses to confirm capacity, so the BMS flags it as low even when fully charged. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle on the hoist before returning it to clinical use. After that cycle, the BMS recalibrates and the alarm clears.

The ceiling hoist cuts out mid-lift on the first few uses after fitting the new battery — what's happening?

New Ni-MH cells deliver higher internal resistance in the first several cycles, and the CP136's motor draws a sharp current spike at the start of each lift. That spike can push the BMS over its overcurrent threshold before the cell has broken in. This typically resolves within 10 full lift cycles as internal resistance drops. If cutouts continue beyond that, check that the battery contacts are clean and seated fully — a loose connection amplifies voltage sag under load.

The charge indicator on the CP136 never reaches 100% on the first charge with the new battery — should we keep charging?

The charge IC applies a reduced acceptance limit on an unrecognised cell to protect against overcharge on an unknown chemistry state. This is normal on the first charge and does not mean the battery is defective. Remove the battery from the charger once the indicator stalls, run the hoist through one full lift sequence to discharge the pack, then recharge from flat. The indicator will reach 100% after this first full cycle.
