Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Maquet Operating Table Remote — 10.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (121102C0)
This 10.8V, 700mAh Ni-MH battery replaces the original cell in Maquet wireless operating table remotes, including the Magnus OR Table Wireless Hand Control (LH070-3A44C9BR) and Theatre Table Remote. It restores full wireless control of table height, tilt, and lateral positioning in surgical environments. Voltage and capacity match OEM spec exactly — no firmware rejection at pairing.
- Magnus OR Table and Theatre Table Remote compatibility: These remotes share the same 10.8V three-cell Ni-MH stack, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol under part number 121102C0. A replacement cell meeting those electrical parameters communicates correctly with the table control unit without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge and load on compatible remote hardware. The BMS accepted the cell, completed its verification sequence, and reported charge state accurately across the full discharge curve. No false low-battery flags were triggered after the first full cycle.
- Post-installation self-test cycle: After fitting this battery, allow the remote to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. Maquet remotes run a BMS verification routine at startup — cutting power during this sequence creates a persistent false battery fault that will not clear until the next complete reboot.
Why a new cell fails the Maquet remote's BMS verification on first power-on
Maquet operating table remotes use a charge-state threshold check during startup. A factory-fresh Ni-MH cell arrives partially discharged from storage and may sit below the BMS acceptance voltage on first insertion. The BMS interprets this as a degraded or faulty cell and triggers a fault state. Running one complete charge-discharge cycle brings the cell into the voltage window the BMS expects, and the verification passes on subsequent boots.
Remote shows full charge indicator but alarms low battery within minutes of use
This happens when the charge IC applies a conservative current limit on a new cell, terminating charge early before the full 700mAh capacity is delivered. The remote reads terminal voltage and reports full, but usable capacity is low — so the first real load pulls voltage below the alarm threshold fast. The fix is to run one complete charge cycle using the OEM cradle or approved charger, then discharge under normal use before trusting the indicator. After that first full cycle, the charge IC calibrates correctly and the indicator tracks actual capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Maquet table remote powers on and charges fine, but the table stops responding mid-procedure — no warning, just drops the connection. What's causing this?
On a new Ni-MH cell, voltage sag under the radio transmitter's load can be sharper in the first ten cycles than it will be once the cell is broken in. The remote's BMS sees the voltage dip as a low-battery cutoff condition and drops the RF link to protect the cell. This isn't a connection fault — it's the battery shutting down under load. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles before clinical use to condition the cell and reduce that early sag.
The replacement battery sat in storage for several months before fitting — now the remote won't power on at all, even after putting it on the charger for an hour.
Ni-MH cells self-discharge during storage, and if the cell dropped below approximately 0.9V per cell (roughly 2.7V total across three cells), the BMS may have entered deep-discharge lockout and is refusing to accept a charge. Place the battery on the charger and leave it for a full 12–16 hours — some charge ICs apply a trickle recovery current below their normal charge threshold and will slowly bring the cell back above the recovery floor. If the charger indicator still shows no charge accepted after that period, the cell has not recovered and needs replacement.
After swapping the battery, the Maquet remote completes its power-on sequence but immediately displays a low-battery warning even though the cell was charged before installation. How do we clear it?
The remote's BMS sets its low-battery alarm threshold based on OEM cell chemistry calibration data, and a new cell hasn't completed a learn cycle yet. The BMS doesn't trust the charge-state reading until one full charge-discharge cycle has been logged. Charge the battery completely in the OEM cradle, use the remote through a full discharge under normal operating load, then recharge fully. After that single cycle, the BMS recalibrates its internal model and the low-battery alarm clears.
