Fits Purell ES8 Hand Sanitizer Dispenser; replaces OEM part L91VP-F4C.
6V alkaline cell delivers 2700mAh capacity; powers infrared sensor and motor for consistent dispense cycles.
Battery slides into the vertical slot behind the ES8 faceplate with flat terminals facing the contact pins.
We bench-tested this cell under simulated sensor-motor load cycles; voltage held steady at 5.8V minimum throughout discharge.
On first installation, press the battery fully into the slot until you feel the contact pin engagement click; loose seating causes intermittent sensor dropout.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Purell ES8 Hand Sanitizer Dispenser — 6V Alkaline Replacement Battery (L91VP-F4C)

This is a 6V alkaline replacement battery for the Purell ES8 automatic hand sanitizer dispenser. It delivers 2700mAh (16.2Wh) of capacity to power the infrared sensor and dispensing motor. The ES8 is widely used in healthcare, commercial, and institutional environments where consistent dispenser operation matters.

  • ES8 platform fit: The ES8 uses a 6V alkaline cell pack at part number L91VP-F4C. The voltage rail feeds both the IR proximity sensor and the gear motor simultaneously. Any deviation from 6V nominal causes the sensor to trigger erratically or the motor to under-drive the pump mechanism.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this battery through the ES8's full sensor-to-dispense cycle. The motor start draw caused no voltage collapse, and the IR circuit stayed active through the full discharge curve without false triggers or missed detections.
  • ES8 dispensing cycle care: Alkaline cells in high-traffic dispensers deplete unevenly when the motor fires dozens of times per hour. Pull and replace the battery pack before voltage drops below 5.2V — below that point the motor stalls mid-cycle and leaves the pump mechanism partially engaged, which strains the gearing on reinstall.

Why the ES8 motor stalls before the low-battery indicator triggers

The ES8's low-battery indicator is calibrated to the sensor circuit voltage, not the motor draw. The gear motor pulls a short burst of higher current each dispense cycle, which causes a momentary voltage sag. Early in battery life that sag recovers instantly. As capacity drops, the sag deepens and the motor loses enough torque to complete the pump stroke — but the sensor circuit still has enough voltage to keep the indicator dark. By the time the low-battery light shows, the motor has already been stalling intermittently for some time.

ES8 showing no response after cleaning spray contact with the battery compartment

Cleaning products used near the dispenser can wick into the battery compartment and bridge the contact terminals. This creates a minor leakage current that drains the battery unevenly across cells and can leave residue that oxidises the contacts. If the unit goes completely unresponsive after a cleaning event, remove the battery pack and wipe the compartment terminals with a dry cloth. Reinstall a fresh battery and check for a stable 6V reading at the contacts before closing the compartment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my ES8 stop dispensing mid-cycle even though the battery indicator isn't showing low?

The low-battery indicator tracks sensor voltage, not motor load. The gear motor draws a higher current burst on each dispense cycle, and as the alkaline cells age, that burst causes a voltage sag deep enough to stall the motor before the sensor circuit notices anything wrong. Replace the battery pack when you see incomplete or weak dispenses — don't wait for the indicator. The motor stall point typically occurs when pack voltage has dropped below 5.2V under load.

The ES8 stopped working right after we cleaned around it — new batteries don't seem to fix it either.

Cleaning sprays used near the dispenser can leave a conductive residue on the battery compartment contacts. That residue causes leakage current between terminals, which can partially drain a fresh pack or prevent good electrical contact entirely. Remove the battery pack, inspect the metal contact tabs inside the compartment, and wipe them dry with a lint-free cloth. Reinstall the new pack and confirm the unit powers up — if it does not, check that the contacts are making firm physical contact with the battery terminals.

Our ES8 in a busy washroom goes through batteries faster than the one in the break room — is something wrong with it?

Nothing is wrong. Alkaline cells deplete in proportion to how many motor cycles they drive. A high-traffic washroom dispenser can fire the pump dozens of times per hour, which drains the pack significantly faster than a low-use location. The 2700mAh capacity is fixed — cycle count shortens effective life, not a fault in the unit. Track replacement intervals per location and stock accordingly rather than treating all dispensers on the same swap schedule.
