Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Qolsys IQ Panel 4 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (QR0083-840)
This 3.7V, 3350mAh Li-ion cell replaces the backup battery in the Qolsys IQ Panel 4 security control panel. It fits the IQ Panel 4, IQP4005, IQ Panel 4 PowerG, and IQP4004BLK, among other variants in the IQ Panel 4 range. When mains power drops, this cell keeps the panel armed, sensors active, and communication links alive.
- IQ Panel 4 platform fit: All IQ Panel 4 variants share the same 3.7V single-cell battery bay and BMS handshake. The connector and physical footprint — 69 × 18.5 × 18.5mm — are identical across the IQP4004BLK, IQP4005, and PowerG variants, so one cell covers the full line.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge acceptance and BMS communication checks on the IQ Panel 4 platform. The panel's battery management circuit recognised the cell, entered float charge correctly, and cleared the low-battery fault after a full conditioning cycle.
- Post-install conditioning window: Do not run a zone or siren test immediately after swapping this cell. Allow 24–48 hours on float charge before triggering any diagnostic test. The panel samples battery voltage at rest — a partially charged new cell will trip a false low-battery event and log it in the event history.
Alarm panel losing programming during a power outage after battery replacement
The IQ Panel 4 only draws from the backup cell once it confirms the cell is above the BMS acceptance threshold — typically around 3.5V at rest. A freshly installed cell that hasn't completed its first full float charge may sit just below that threshold. When mains power cuts before conditioning is complete, the panel cannot draw enough current to hold RAM, and programming resets to factory defaults. The fix is to leave the panel on AC power for a full 48 hours after installation before relying on backup. After that window, the BMS flags the cell as accepted and the panel holds programming through outages normally.
Siren not sounding during test after backup cell swap
The IQ Panel 4 applies a 30–60 second siren suppression window immediately after detecting a new battery connection. This is a deliberate BMS behaviour — the panel holds the siren output low while it stabilises voltage from the new cell. If a test is triggered in that window, the panel logs the alarm internally but the audible siren does not fire, which looks like a siren fault when it isn't. Wait at least 90 seconds after closing the panel cover, then rerun the test. If the siren still doesn't sound, check that the cover tamper switch is fully seated — an open tamper fault on the IQ Panel 4 will suppress the siren independently of battery state.

Frequently Asked Questions
My IQ Panel 4 is showing a low battery alert less than an hour after I put in the new cell — did I get a bad battery?
Almost certainly not — this is a BMS conditioning behaviour on the IQ Panel 4. The panel reads battery voltage against a threshold, and a new cell fresh out of packaging sits at a resting voltage that the BMS treats as not yet accepted. Leave the panel on AC mains for 24–48 hours and the alert will clear once the cell completes its first float charge cycle. If the alert persists past 48 hours, check the connector is fully seated — a loose connection holds the cell voltage artificially low at the BMS sense pin.
The panel showed a tamper fault the moment I closed the lid after swapping the battery — what causes that?
The IQ Panel 4 has a cover tamper switch that sits directly beside the battery bay. During a cell swap, it's easy to slightly displace the switch actuator or leave the cover fractionally unlatched. The panel interprets any gap as a tamper event and logs it immediately. Open the cover fully, reseat the switch actuator by pressing it flush, then close the lid firmly until you hear the latch click on all four corners. The tamper fault should clear within one polling cycle — typically within 30 seconds.
After a power outage my IQ Panel 4 lost its Wi-Fi and sensor pairing — the new battery was fully installed, so why didn't it hold?
The IQ Panel 4 only draws backup current from the cell once the BMS confirms the cell has passed its acceptance voltage — around 3.5V at rest after a conditioning period. If the outage happened within the first 48 hours of installation, the cell hadn't cleared that threshold yet, so the panel couldn't sustain RAM and dropped its configuration. Re-enter your Wi-Fi credentials and re-pair any sensors that dropped, then leave the panel on AC power for a full 48-hour conditioning window before the next outage test. After conditioning completes, the panel will hold programming through outages at its rated backup duration.
