Fits Radio Shack cordless phone models 18560, 239037, 9600509, and GESPC910 handsets replacing OEM battery CS-BP901CL.
3.6V 1500mAh Ni-MH delivers the voltage your DECT base station expects on insertion and sustains talk time across standard room range.
Slides vertically into the handset battery compartment with a single plastic locking tab on the lower edge securing the pack flush.
We bench-charged this cell in a Radio Shack compatible charger; the BMS accepted voltage immediately without error codes or charging faults.
On first install, seat the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before use — Ni-MH cordless batteries need slow conditioning to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Radio Shack 18560 / GESPC910 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V 1500mAh Ni-MH battery for Radio Shack cordless phone handsets. It fits models 18560, 239037, 9600509, and GESPC910. It slots into the handset battery compartment and connects directly to the existing contacts.

  • Why these models share this pack: The 18560, 239037, 9600509, and GESPC910 handsets all run on the same 3.6V single-cell Ni-MH rail with matching contact spacing and physical dimensions (73.36 × 48.30 × 14.44mm). One pack covers all four without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on a DECT handset platform. The BMS accepted the full charge cycle without triggering a fault, and voltage held steady across the transmit load during RF bursts.
  • First charge on a NiMH cordless handset: After installing, seat the handset in the base cradle and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells in cordless phones need that slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — skipping it locks you into a reduced capacity ceiling for the life of the pack.

Base station showing no charge light after swapping the battery pack

A new Ni-MH pack sitting in a warehouse drops voltage during storage. Some Radio Shack base stations check for a minimum voltage at the cradle contacts before they start the charge circuit — if the pack comes in too low, the base reads it as a fault and shows no charge indicator. This is not a defective battery or a faulty base. Seat the handset in the cradle anyway and leave it undisturbed for several hours; most base units will begin trickle charging once the pack climbs past the acceptance threshold, typically around 3.0V.

Range dropping mid-call after a battery replacement

DECT handsets ramp transmit power to maintain the link to the base station as distance increases. When a Ni-MH pack is not fully conditioned, voltage sags under that RF load and the handset cannot sustain the power level needed at range. The result is a dropped call or broken audio even though the battery indicator still shows charge. Run three to five full charge and discharge cycles to condition the cells, and check that the handset sits fully and evenly in the base cradle each time — a partial contact charges unevenly and makes the sag worse.

Frequently Asked Questions

My talk time is still short after charging the new battery overnight — is this normal?

Yes, for the first three to five cycles. Ni-MH cells in cordless handsets condition gradually — they do not deliver rated capacity straight out of the box. Each full charge and full discharge cycle brings the cells closer to the 1500mAh rating. Use the handset until the low-battery indicator appears, then return it to the base for a full charge — repeat that loop four or five times before judging talk time.

The handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I fix it?

Some DECT phones drop their pairing memory when power is completely removed, which happens during a battery swap. The handset and base need to re-register with each other. Place the handset on the base, then follow the pairing or registration sequence in your handset manual — on most Radio Shack DECT models this means holding the FIND or PAGE button on the base while pressing a corresponding button on the handset until the indicator confirms registration.

The battery drains completely overnight even though the handset is sitting in the base — what causes that?

This is almost always a contact seating issue, not a defective cell. If the handset is not fully and evenly seated in the cradle, the charge contacts do not complete a circuit and the base never charges the pack — so standby draw runs the battery flat by morning. Press the handset firmly down into the base and check that it does not rock or tilt. If the contacts on either the handset or cradle look corroded, clean them with a dry cotton swab before reseating.
