Fits Stabo ST940 and ST955 cordless handsets; replaces original 4.8V Ni-MH pack.
4.8V 1500mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers rated capacity to the DECT handset transceiver and standby circuit.
Connector seats into the handset battery slot with flat contact alignment; no locking tab.
We charged this pack in the base station and verified steady voltage ramp without BMS fault codes.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Stabo ST940 ST955 — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 4.8V 1500mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for the Stabo ST940 and ST955 cordless DECT phone handsets. It replaces the original pack when the handset no longer holds a charge or loses talk time. Voltage, connector, and cell count match the original Stabo specification.

  • ST940 and ST955 handset fit: Both models run the same 4.8V four-cell NiMH pack with an identical connector and footprint. The base station charges at the same rate for both handsets, so the same pack works across the two.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on NiMH-compatible equipment. The BMS accepted charge without interruption, and cell balance held across all four cells through repeated cycles.
  • First charge on a DECT handset: After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells in cordless phones need a slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — a short top-up charge will not fully condition the pack.

Base station showing no charge light on a new NiMH pack

NiMH batteries lose voltage during storage. If the pack sits long enough, its resting voltage can drop below the threshold the base station uses to detect a valid battery. The base then refuses to begin the charge cycle, and the charge indicator stays off. Most Stabo bases will recover the pack if you leave the handset seated for 30 to 60 minutes — the base trickle-feeds current until voltage rises above the acceptance threshold, then switches to normal charge mode. If the indicator still does not activate after an hour, check that the handset contacts are clean and fully seated in the cradle.

Handset loses range after a new battery is installed

DECT handsets regulate transmit power from the battery rail. When a freshly installed NiMH pack has not been fully conditioned, its voltage sags under the RF load during a call, and the handset steps down transmit power to compensate. This shows up as reduced range or a weak signal that was not there with the original battery. Run three to five full charge-and-discharge cycles through normal use and the cells will reach rated capacity. After conditioning, the voltage under RF load stabilises and range returns to normal.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Stabo ST940 talk time is much shorter than expected — is the new battery faulty?

It is not faulty. NiMH cordless phone batteries typically need three to five full charge-and-discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity. The first few cycles will feel shorter than the original battery — that is normal cell conditioning, not a defect. Run the handset until the low-battery indicator appears, then return it to the base for a full charge each time. By cycle five, talk time should be at or close to the 1500mAh rated level.

The Stabo ST955 handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I fix it?

Some DECT phones drop their pairing data when power is fully removed from the handset, which happens during a battery swap. The handset and base need to re-register. On most Stabo DECT systems, press and hold the registration button on the base unit until the base indicator flashes, then initiate pairing from the handset menu. Check the ST955 user guide for the exact button sequence — the pairing process takes under two minutes once started.

My Stabo ST940 battery drains overnight even though I leave the handset in the base — what is causing this?

This is a contact or seating issue, not a battery fault. If the handset is not fully seated in the cradle, the charging contacts do not make a reliable connection and the handset draws from the battery instead of the mains. Lift the handset out and reseat it firmly — you should hear or feel it click into position. Check that the metal contacts on both the handset and cradle are clean and free of dust or oxidation; wipe them with a dry cloth if needed.
