Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Redmi Note 8 Pro — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BM4J)
This is a 3.85V, 4400mAh Li-Polymer cell that replaces the original BM4J battery in the Redmi Note 8 Pro and related M1908C3J variants. It fits models M1908C3JH, M1908C3JG, and M1908C3JE, among others in the Note 8 Pro line. Physical dimensions are 85.45 × 64.10 × 4.28mm — measure your original before ordering if you are unsure.
- Note 8 Pro series fit: All M1908C3J variants share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake requirements. The BM4J part number covers that full range — the fuel gauge IC on each board reads the same cell parameters.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on a Note 8 Pro board. The BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, and the charge IC reached full termination voltage without thermal shutdown.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first cycle: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-to-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's actual discharge curve before high-current fast charging begins pushing current into an uncalibrated cell — it prevents early percentage-jump errors.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Redmi Note 8 Pro
This is a voltage-cliff problem, not a capacity problem. When the modem fires at full transmit power or the screen peaks brightness, current draw spikes hard. An aged or poorly matched cell cannot hold voltage under that load — it collapses below the BMS cutoff threshold before the fuel gauge reads zero. A fresh BM4J cell with lower internal resistance sustains voltage through those spikes. After fitting the new cell, let it discharge to around 5% naturally on the first cycle so the coulomb counter anchors its lower calibration point correctly.
USB fast charge not triggering after battery replacement
The Note 8 Pro uses Xiaomi's proprietary fast charge protocol, which the charge IC negotiates over the data lines before ramping current. On the first cycle with a new cell, the BMS sometimes presents parameters the charge IC reads as out-of-range, so it falls back to standard 5V charging instead. This is not a fault — it clears itself after one full standard charge cycle completes and the BMS registers a valid state-of-charge endpoint. If fast charging still does not trigger after two full cycles, check the USB-C port for debris or try a certified Xiaomi charger, as third-party chargers often fail protocol negotiation entirely.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Redmi Note 8 Pro shows the wrong battery percentage after I put in the new BM4J — it jumped from 40% to 8% in minutes. What is going on?
The fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the discharge curve of your old, degraded cell. When it sees different voltage behaviour from the new cell, the percentage reading loses its reference points and jumps erratically. Run one complete cycle — discharge the phone down to auto-shutdown, then charge it uninterrupted to 100% on a standard (non-fast) charger. That gives the coulomb counter a full anchor at both ends of the curve and the percentage readings stabilise.
My Note 8 Pro does not power on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few weeks before fitting. The screen stays black.
Li-Polymer cells that sit in storage self-discharge over time, and if the cell voltage dropped below 2.5V the BMS entered lockout mode to prevent damage — it will not pass current to the board in that state. Plug the phone into a wall charger (not a PC USB port) and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing anything. The charge IC trickle-charges the cell from outside the BMS lockout threshold; once the cell climbs above roughly 3.0V the BMS re-initialises and the phone will boot normally.
The phone gets noticeably warm near the back panel while charging with the new BM4J fitted — is that a problem?
A new cell has slightly higher impedance than a well-used one, so the charge IC dissipates a little more heat during the constant-current phase while it works against that resistance. This is normal for the first several charge cycles and reduces as the cell conditions. If the back reaches a point where it is uncomfortable to hold, stop the charge and let it cool — that level of heat indicates the charger is pushing more current than the thermal path can handle, so switch to a lower-wattage charger (5V/1A) until the cell has completed three or four full cycles.
