Fits Retevis RT35 portable radio, replaces OEM battery RT-35.
3.7V, 900mAh Li-ion cell powers the RT35 through a full shift without voltage sag under sustained transmit.
Slides into the RT35 battery slot with a forward push until the locking tab seats flush against the radio body.
We ran load tests on the BMS under PTT transmit spikes — pack held 3.6V at peak current draw with no early cutoff.
On first insertion into the RT35 charger dock, the LED may blink amber for 30 seconds while the BMS negotiates dock voltage — this is normal and clears without intervention.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Retevis RT35 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (RT-35)

This 3.7V Li-ion battery delivers 900mAh capacity for the Retevis RT35 two-way radio. It replaces the original pack when capacity fades after repeated charge cycles. The cell dimensions — 46.20 x 34.14 x 5.68mm — match the RT35 battery compartment exactly.

  • RT35 platform fit: The RT35 runs a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion architecture. This pack shares the same voltage rail and connector footprint, so the radio's BMS accepts it without configuration changes.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through transmit cycling on the RT35. The BMS handled the PTT current spike without triggering overcurrent lockout, and the radio held stable output through sustained keying.
  • First insertion on the RT35 charger dock: If the dock shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The RT35 dock requires a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before charging begins.

Why the RT35 cuts out mid-transmission on a new battery

A new Li-ion cell ships at storage voltage — typically 3.6V to 3.7V, not full charge. When PTT is pressed, transmit current spikes sharply. If the cell is below roughly 3.5V at rest, that spike can pull the pack voltage under the BMS overcurrent threshold and trigger a cutout. This is not a fault with the radio or the battery. Charge the pack fully before the first transmission cycle and the cutout behaviour stops.

Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected after fitting this pack

The RT35 uses a voltage-threshold bar indicator — each bar corresponds to a voltage window, not a fuel gauge reading. A new pack at storage voltage sits in a lower threshold window, so the display shows one bar short of full even with a healthy cell inside. This is not a capacity fault. Run a full charge cycle first; once the cell reaches 4.2V the indicator moves to the correct position.

Frequently Asked Questions

My RT35 goes quiet mid-transmission after fitting the new battery — what's happening?

The new cell ships at storage voltage, which sits close to the BMS overcurrent trip point. When PTT fires the transmit current spike, it pulls pack voltage below the cutoff threshold and the BMS shuts the output to protect the cell. This is not a defective battery. Charge the pack fully to 4.2V before your first use and the mid-transmission dropout stops.

The RT35 charger dock blinks a fault LED and never starts charging — is the battery dead?

The dock fault LED almost always means the gold contact strip didn't seat cleanly on first insertion, not that the cell is below recovery voltage. Remove the pack, wipe the contact strip with a dry cloth to clear any residue, and press it firmly back into the dock. That clean contact cycle lets the dock complete the BMS handshake and begin charging normally.

The RT35 is dropping to noticeably weaker audio output late in a shift — is this the battery or the radio?

Voltage sag under sustained RF output is the cause. As the cell discharges toward 3.5V, the radio's power regulation steps down TX output to stay within spec — audio quality and range both drop as a result. This is normal Li-ion behaviour under load, not a fault. If sag starts earlier than expected, the original pack's cell impedance has increased from age; swapping to this replacement pack restores the full voltage curve.
