Fits Samsung ATIV Book 9 Pro models NP940Z5L and NP940Z5J; replaces OEM part AA-PBUN4NP.
This 15.2V, 3700mAh lithium-polymer cell delivers 56.24Wh to sustain full CPU and display load.
Connector seats flush into the battery slot with a single locking tab on the left side.
We bench-tested this pack on a cold boot; the BMS initialized without fault codes on first charge cycle.
After installation, run one full discharge to hibernation cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung ATIV Book 9 Pro (AA-PBUN4NP) — 15.2V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery

This is a 15.2V, 3700mAh (56.24Wh) Li-Polymer battery for the Samsung ATIV Book 9 Pro ultrabook. It fits the NP940Z5L, NP940Z5J, and NP940Z5L-X03US alongside additional NP940 variants sharing the AA-PBUN4NP form factor. Use the OEM part number to confirm fitment before ordering.

  • NP940Z5 series compatibility: These models share the same 15.2V four-cell Li-Polymer rail, the same BMS handshake protocol, and the same physical connector orientation. Any NP940Z5 variant listed under AA-PBUN4NP uses identical charging circuitry, so one cell works across the entire sub-family.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on NP940Z5 hardware. The BMS communicated correctly with the system board, accepted charge without tripping over-voltage protection, and reported state-of-charge data to the OS throughout testing.
  • Post-install calibration on the ATIV Book 9 Pro: After fitting, run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.

BIOS reporting battery health as poor after replacement on the NP940Z5

The ATIV Book 9 Pro stores charge history in EEPROM on the battery's BMS board. When a new cell arrives, that EEPROM contains factory defaults that don't match the system's learned data from the old cell. The BIOS reads this mismatch as a degraded or unknown battery. Running a full calibration cycle — discharge to cutoff, then a single uninterrupted charge to 100% — allows the BIOS to rewrite its reference data against the new cell and clear the health warning.

Laptop shuts down at 20–30% charge shown on screen

This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual voltage curve. The IC still references the old cell's degraded discharge profile, so it predicts cutoff too early and triggers shutdown before the true minimum is reached. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate cycles followed by full uninterrupted charges. After those cycles, the fuel gauge recalibrates and the OS reads the remaining charge accurately down to the correct cutoff voltage of approximately 11.4V under load.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Samsung ATIV Book 9 Pro shows the new battery as 0% or "unknown" in Windows — is the cell dead?

It isn't dead. The fuel gauge IC on the new cell's BMS ships with factory EEPROM defaults that the BIOS hasn't yet learned. Windows reads that as 0% or reports no data because the system expects charge history from the previous cell. Run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff followed by a full uninterrupted charge to 100% — after that cycle the BIOS rewrites its reference table and Windows reports correctly.

The replacement battery shows 44Wh in Samsung Settings but the spec says 56.24Wh — did I get the wrong cell?

You have the right cell. The Wh figure shown in Samsung Settings is pulled from EEPROM on the BMS, which ships with a conservative rated value rather than the actual measured capacity of the installed chemistry. After one or two full calibration cycles — full discharge to hibernate, full charge uninterrupted — the system recalculates available energy against real cell behaviour and the reported figure moves closer to the actual 56.24Wh spec.

Charging stops at 80% and won't go higher on the NP940Z5L — is the charger faulty?

The charger is fine. Samsung's BIOS on the NP940Z5 series includes a firmware-controlled charge limit that caps charging at 80% when battery protection mode is active. Open Samsung Settings (or Samsung Battery Manager if installed), locate the battery life extender or protection mode option, and switch it off. Charging will then proceed to 100% — this is a BIOS setting, not a fault with the cell.
