Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Acer Aspire S 13 S5-371 — 11.55V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (AP15O5L)
This is an 11.55V, 4600mAh (53.13Wh) lithium-polymer battery for the Acer Aspire S 13 series ultrabook. It replaces OEM part numbers AP15O5L, AP1505L, AP1503K, and AP15O3K. Fits the S5-371 chassis and all sub-models on that platform.
- S5-371 platform compatibility: Every S5-371 variant — including the 52JR and 53NX — runs the same 11.55V three-cell Li-Polymer architecture with a shared connector pinout and BMS handshake protocol. One cell covers the full range.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on an S5-371 unit and confirmed the BMS completes charge handshake correctly, holds voltage above 10.8V at full CPU and display load, and does not trigger an early cutoff under sustained draw.
- First-cycle calibration on the S5-371: After installing, run one full discharge until the laptop hibernates on its own, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning the S5-371 displays after every cell swap.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after fitting a new cell
The S5-371 BIOS reads health data stored in the old cell's EEPROM before the new cell has completed a learn cycle. Until calibration runs, the firmware compares current state-of-charge against stale reference data and flags the battery as degraded. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. One full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% gives the BIOS a fresh reference point and clears the warning on next boot.
Laptop shuts down at 20–30% shown on the OS fuel gauge
This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual voltage curve. The gauge shows 20–30% remaining, but the cell voltage has already dropped below the BMS cutoff threshold — typically around 9.9V under load on this platform. The system shuts down to protect the cell even though the percentage looks safe. Run two to three full discharge-to-charge cycles and the OS gauge will align with real cell voltage. After calibration, the shutdown point moves back to below 5% as expected.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Acer Aspire S 13 now shows the wrong Wh rating in system info after swapping the battery — is something wrong?
The Wh figure in system information is pulled from the cell's EEPROM, not measured in real time. If the EEPROM on the replacement cell carries a slightly different rated value than the original, Windows or the BIOS will display that number instead. This is a data difference, not a capacity fault. Confirm the physical cell specs match — 11.55V, 53.13Wh — and ignore the system info figure until one full calibration cycle completes.
The charge stops at 80% and won't go higher — why is the new battery stuck there?
The S5-371 BIOS includes a charge-limit feature that caps charging at 80% when enabled in Acer Care Center or the BIOS power settings. This is firmware-controlled and has nothing to do with the replacement cell. Go into the BIOS or Acer Care Center, locate the battery health charging mode, and switch it from "Best Battery" to "Standard." The cell will then charge to 100%.
The OS fuel gauge reads wildly different percentages from one minute to the next after fitting this battery — jumping 15% at a time.
The fuel gauge IC is still calibrating against the new cell's voltage-to-capacity curve. The old cell's discharge profile was mapped over hundreds of cycles; the new cell's curve is unknown to the IC until it runs through full cycles itself. Erratic jumps are normal for the first two to three full discharge-to-charge cycles. After that the gauge stabilises — if it does not settle by cycle four, discharge fully to hibernate-cutoff at approximately 9.9V and recharge uninterrupted to 100%.
