Fits Samsung Galaxy Note 5 models SM-N920A, SM-N920R4, SM-N920F and others; replaces OEM battery EB-BN920ABE.
3.8V, 3000mAh lithium-polymer cell restores full charge capacity on the Note 5 display and processor load.
Connector seats flat into the battery slot with no locking tab; orientation marked on device housing.
We ran full discharge cycles on a fuel gauge test rig; the BMS accepted standard USB charge protocol without fault codes.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle to let the coulomb counter recalibrate against this cell's discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (EB-BN920ABE)

This 3.8V, 3000mAh lithium-polymer cell replaces the original EB-BN920ABE battery in the Samsung Galaxy Note 5. It fits SM-N920A, SM-N920R4, SM-N920F, and 19 additional SM-N920 variants. Swap it when the original cell can no longer hold charge through a normal day of use.

  • SM-N920 series compatibility: All SM-N920 variants share the same 3.8V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One cell covers the full range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a Note 5 unit. The BMS accepted the cell on first connection, charge termination triggered correctly at 4.35V, and low-voltage cutoff activated at the expected threshold without false trips.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle at standard rate. This gives the fuel gauge IC accurate data on the new cell's discharge curve before high-current fast charging is applied to an uncalibrated cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This is a voltage cliff issue, not a capacity defect. The fuel gauge IC still holds calibration data from the old, degraded cell. Under high-current load — LTE modem, screen at full brightness, or GPS — the new cell's voltage drops faster than the IC predicts, triggering a protective shutdown before the percentage reaches zero. One full discharge-charge cycle at standard rate resets the coulomb counter against the new cell's actual discharge curve. After that cycle, shutdowns at 20–30% stop.

USB fast charge not accepted after battery replacement

Samsung's Adaptive Fast Charging handshake on the Note 5 requires the BMS to respond correctly on the first charge cycle. A new cell sometimes presents higher impedance than the charge IC expects, causing it to fall back to standard 5V charging rather than negotiating the higher voltage rail. Plug in using the original Samsung charger and cable — third-party USB-PD chargers often fail the handshake on the first cycle with a new cell. After one standard charge completes, fast charging typically activates normally on subsequent cycles.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Note 5 shows the wrong battery percentage after I replaced the battery — is the new cell faulty?

The cell is not faulty. The fuel gauge IC inside the phone retained calibration data from the old, worn cell and is now mapping that data onto a different discharge curve. Run one complete discharge down to auto-shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% at standard rate without fast charging enabled. That single cycle feeds the coulomb counter enough data to recalibrate, and the percentage reading stabilises.

The phone feels warm near the battery area during the first few charges after the swap — should I be concerned?

A new lithium-polymer cell has slightly higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC pushes a little more energy as heat during the initial cycles. We measured surface temperature during bench testing and it stayed within normal operating range. If the warmth fades after two or three full charge cycles, the cell is conditioning normally. If heat persists or the phone becomes hot to the touch, disconnect the charger and check that the battery connector is fully seated — a loose pin creates resistance at the contact point.

My Note 5 won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months before I installed it — how do I recover it?

Lithium-polymer cells self-discharge in storage, and if the cell dropped below 2.5V, the BMS enters a lockout state to prevent charging a deeply discharged cell at full current. Connect the phone to the original Samsung charger and leave it for 30–45 minutes without attempting to power it on. Most BMS firmware on this cell includes a trickle pre-charge stage that slowly brings the cell voltage back above the 3.0V threshold before releasing the lockout and allowing normal charging to resume.
