Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung SC-D20 / SC-D21 / SC-D23 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (SB-L70)
This is a 7.4V, 1400mAh Li-ion replacement cell for the Samsung SC-D20 series camcorders. It fits the SC-D20, SC-D21, SC-D23, and SC-D24 alongside over 98 additional Samsung camcorder models that share the SB-L70 form factor. The cell matches the OEM voltage rail and connector pinout used across this camcorder generation.
- SC-D20 generation platform fit: The SC-D20 through SC-D24 share a common battery bay, BMS handshake protocol, and 7.4V power rail. This replacement uses the same cell dimensions (55.77 × 39.82 × 19.96mm) and connector layout, so the bay latch, contact pins, and charge circuit engage the same way as the original SB-L70.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on compatible Samsung camcorder bodies. The BMS accepted the cell without rejection errors and the remaining-battery indicator tracked consistently through the discharge curve.
- First charge on the camcorder, not a third-party charger: Samsung's SB-L70-generation camcorders calibrate the battery-remaining display during the first charge cycle drawn through the camera body's own charge circuit. Run the first charge inside the camcorder before using an external charger — this is what sets the indicator baseline for accurate read-outs during shooting.
Why the SC-D20's battery indicator drops suddenly during sustained recording
The SC-D20 uses a voltage-threshold system to estimate remaining charge rather than a coulomb-counting circuit. Under sustained video recording load — where the CCD sensor, image processor, and tape transport all draw simultaneously — the cell voltage dips faster than during light use. The camera interprets this voltage sag as a lower state of charge and steps the indicator down sharply. The effect is most visible when switching from standby to active recording. It is not a cell fault; it is the indicator responding to real load-induced voltage drop.
Camera shows dead-battery icon immediately after inserting a fully charged replacement
This happens when the camcorder's BMS has not yet mapped the new cell's voltage curve. The SC-D20 reads open-circuit voltage on insertion and compares it against stored thresholds — a new Li-ion cell sitting at storage charge can sit below the threshold the camera expects for "full." Insert the battery, connect the camcorder to its OEM AC adapter, and run one full charge cycle through the camera body. After that cycle the BMS re-anchors its thresholds to the new cell and the icon clears. Confirm by checking that the indicator reaches the full bar at 8.2V measured at the battery terminals on removal.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Samsung SC-D20 shows "no battery" or a dead icon the moment I put the new battery in — is the cell faulty?
The cell is almost certainly fine. The SC-D20's BMS reads open-circuit voltage on insertion and rejects anything it can't map to a known threshold — a new Li-ion cell at storage charge can trigger this. Insert the battery, plug the camcorder into its OEM AC adapter, and complete one full charge cycle through the camera body. That single cycle re-establishes the voltage reference and the error clears.
The battery percentage on my SC-D20 jumps around — it shows 50%, then drops to 10% a minute later without much use.
The SC-D20 uses a voltage-threshold indicator, not a fuel gauge. A replacement cell's discharge curve doesn't always match the thresholds stored for the original SB-L70, so the indicator steps down in uneven jumps rather than smoothly. Run two or three full charge-and-discharge cycles through the camera body — this lets the BMS sample the new cell's actual voltage behaviour at each threshold point. After conditioning cycles the percentage steps will track much closer to real remaining charge.
My SC-D20 records noticeably fewer tapes than it used to before the battery dies — what's drawing it down faster?
Sustained tape transport, CCD sensor, and image-processing current all run at once during recording — the combined draw is significantly higher than playback or standby. Cold ambient temperatures compound this because Li-ion internal resistance rises below 15°C, increasing voltage sag under that combined load. Check that you're recording at room temperature and that the LCD backlight is not set to maximum brightness, which adds measurable draw on top of the recording circuit. If consumption is still higher than expected after conditioning cycles, measure terminal voltage under load — it should stay above 7.0V during active recording.
