Fits Kyocera Finecam S3, S3L, and S5R cameras; replaces BP-800S, BP-900S, and BP-1000S battery packs.
This 3.7V 1000mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 3.7Wh for standard shooting sessions without flash-intensive capture.
Battery slides into the camera body slot with a single-contact pin alignment; no mechanical locking required.
We cycled the pack through the Finecam S3 charger port; BMS accepted the cell and reported full capacity on first insertion without fault codes.
On first use, run one complete charge cycle through the camera body before extended shooting — Kyocera's battery-remaining display requires one full charge from the camera itself to calibrate voltage thresholds to this cell's discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Kyocera Finecam S3 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BP-800S)

This is a 3.7V, 1000mAh Li-ion replacement cell for the Kyocera Finecam S3, Finecam S3L, and Finecam S5R digital cameras. It replaces OEM part numbers BP-800S, BP-900S, and BP-1000S. Voltage and physical footprint match the original — 68.20 × 24.85 × 6.50mm.

  • Finecam S3, S3L, and S5R compatibility: These three bodies share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS voltage thresholds. A single cell spec covers all three without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge, rest, and discharge on compatible hardware. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags, and protection circuits triggered correctly at low-voltage cutoff.
  • First-install charge cycle: Insert the battery and run a full charge inside the camera body or OEM charger before your first shoot. Some Kyocera BMS implementations need one full in-body charge cycle to calibrate the battery-remaining indicator accurately.

Flash recycling slowing down toward the end of a shoot

As a Li-ion cell approaches the lower end of its discharge curve, internal resistance rises and the current available for capacitor recharge drops. The Finecam's flash capacitor draws a sharp burst of current to recycle — that burst takes longer when the cell voltage sags below roughly 3.5V. The result is a noticeable pause between shots in flash mode, even though the battery indicator still shows charge remaining. If recycling lag appears early with a new cell, confirm the charger brought the pack to 4.2V before the shoot.

Battery percentage jumping or reading 100% then dropping suddenly

The Finecam maps remaining charge to a voltage-threshold table calibrated for the OEM cell's discharge curve. A replacement cell with a slightly different curve can cause the indicator to misread — showing full for longer, then stepping down sharply. This is a calibration issue in the camera's fuel gauge, not a fault in the cell itself. Running two or three full charge-to-cutoff cycles inside the camera body typically re-aligns the indicator to the new cell's actual discharge profile.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Finecam S3 shows a dead battery icon immediately after I insert the fully charged replacement — is the cell faulty?

This is almost always the camera's BMS rejecting an unconditioned cell on first install, not a faulty battery. The Finecam checks cell voltage against an internal threshold before accepting a new pack, and a replacement shipped in storage state can read low enough to trigger the error. Place the battery in the OEM charger or inside the camera body and run a full charge to 4.2V. After that first complete charge cycle, reinsert and the icon should clear.

The shot count on my Finecam S3L feels much lower than expected — is the 1000mAh rating wrong?

The rated capacity is accurate, but shot count varies significantly depending on how the camera is used. Flash, continuous autofocus, optical zoom motor movement, and LCD brightness all draw current beyond what the base spec-shot count assumes. Cold ambient temperatures also reduce the usable capacity of any Li-ion cell temporarily. To get close to rated performance, shoot with the LCD at mid-brightness, limit flash to when it's needed, and let the camera warm to room temperature before heavy use.

My Finecam S3 body feels warm during video recording and the battery depletes faster than during still shooting — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong — this is expected behaviour under sustained video load. The image sensor, image processor, and any stabilisation system all run continuously during video, pulling significantly more current than the intermittent draw of still capture. That combined load also generates heat in the camera body itself. To slow the depletion rate during video, disable stabilisation if the camera is on a tripod and reduce LCD brightness. If the body gets uncomfortably hot, check that the battery bay vents are clear of debris.
