Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sena GT-Air II / J-Cruise II / SHOEI Neotec II — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (PTC802050)
This is a 3.7V 800mAh Li-Polymer cell that replaces part number PTC802050 in Sena's motorcycle helmet communication systems. It fits the GT-Air II, J-Cruise II, SHOEI Neotec II, and SRL-01 (SP51) headset units. Voltage and capacity match the original spec exactly.
- GT-Air II, J-Cruise II, SHOEI Neotec II, SRL-01 (SP51) compatibility: These units share the same 3.7V power rail, physical cell dimensions (52 × 20 × 8mm), and BMS handshake protocol — which is why a single cell covers all four platforms without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a GT-Air II unit. The BMS accepted the pack without a fault flag, and the Bluetooth and intercom radio drew current cleanly across the full discharge curve.
- First-cycle protocol for helmet headsets: Seat the headset in its charging cradle and run a complete charge cycle before the first ride. The GT-Air II's firmware logs the new cell during that first full cycle — skipping it causes the battery indicator to misread state-of-charge for weeks.
Why the GT-Air II cuts out mid-transmission on a new battery
The GT-Air II runs Bluetooth audio and the intercom radio simultaneously during group rides. That combined draw creates brief current spikes that can trip the BMS on a cell that hasn't completed its first conditioning cycle. The BMS interprets the spike as an over-current event and cuts the output rail to protect the cell. After two or three full charge-discharge cycles, the BMS recalibrates its cutoff threshold to the actual cell characteristics and the drop-outs stop.
Helmet shows full charge on the cradle but headset dies early in a ride
A new Li-Polymer cell ships at storage voltage — roughly 3.6–3.7V — not at full charge. If the cradle sees that voltage and reports the battery as charged, the headset enters the ride with less capacity than expected. Seat the unit in the cradle and confirm the charging LED cycles through its full sequence before removing it. The cell needs to reach 4.2V to be genuinely full.

Frequently Asked Questions
My GT-Air II keeps cutting out mid-intercom call even though the battery indicator still shows charge — what's going on?
The intercom radio and Bluetooth audio pull current at the same time, and that combined spike can trip the BMS cutoff before the cell is actually depleted. This is most common in the first few cycles on a new cell, before the BMS has logged the pack's real discharge curve. Run three full charge-discharge cycles on the headset and the cutoffs should stop. If they continue past cycle five, check that the cell is seated flat with no flex in the connector — a poor contact causes identical symptoms.
The charging cradle shows the GT-Air II as fully charged within minutes of docking — is the new battery actually charging?
A new PTC802050 cell ships at storage voltage, which is close enough to a resting full charge that some cradles stop the charge current early. Remove the headset, power it on briefly to draw the voltage down slightly, then re-dock it — the cradle should then run a proper charge cycle. Watch the LED sequence complete fully before removing it. The cell is genuinely full when it reaches 4.2V, not when the cradle first stops blinking.
After a long highway ride with music and intercom both running, the GT-Air II housing feels noticeably warm — is that normal?
Sustained simultaneous Bluetooth audio and intercom draw in a compact helmet housing generates heat, and some warmth is expected. What matters is whether the unit stays on — if it cuts off, the BMS is triggering thermal protection. If it stays on and cools within a few minutes of ending the call, the temperature stayed within the cell's operating range. Avoid mounting the helmet in direct sun during rest stops when the radio is still active, as an already-warm cell reaches the thermal threshold faster under continued draw.
