Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sencor SPV2706 / SPV2715 / SPV2716 / SPV2718 — 7.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (GSP613762)

This 7.4V, 1900mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces part number GSP613762 in the Sencor SPV2706, SPV2715, SPV2716, and SPV2718 portable DVD players. It slots into the same bay as the original and connects to the same BMS circuit. Capacity is 1900mAh (14.06Wh), matching the factory specification.

  • SPV2706 / SPV2715 / SPV2716 / SPV2718 compatibility: These four models share the same 7.4V two-cell Li-Polymer pack, the same connector pinout, and the same BMS handshake protocol — so one battery covers the full range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through disc spin-up, sustained playback, and display-on load simultaneously. The BMS held voltage within the expected window and did not trigger low-voltage cutoff during the draw spike at disc motor start.
  • Charging while playing: Avoid running disc playback with the display at full brightness while the unit is on charge. The combined draw from the disc motor, backlight, and charging current stacks heat into the cell. The thermal protection circuit will throttle output before damage occurs, but repeated thermal events shorten cell life faster than normal cycling.

Why the SPV2706 won't complete a full movie on a new battery

The SPV2706 draws from three sources at once — disc motor, display backlight, and audio amplifier. At disc spin-up, the motor pulls a short current spike that can temporarily sag cell voltage below what a deeply discharged or storage-state battery can sustain. If the pack ships at storage voltage (typically around 3.7V per cell), the player may cut off before the disc even reaches play speed. A full charge before first use resolves this. Once fully charged, the 1900mAh capacity supports extended playback without voltage sag during normal motor operation.

Screen dimming mid-movie with no warning

When cell voltage drops below a threshold — typically around 3.2V per cell under load — the SPV display driver reduces backlight brightness to lower current draw and protect the cell. This is not a screen fault; it is the player's low-voltage response. If dimming starts earlier in playback than expected, the original battery's capacity has degraded and it can no longer sustain the full display load through a complete film. Fit the replacement GSP613762 pack, charge to 100%, and the display will hold full brightness through a normal viewing session.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Sencor SPV2706 disc spins up then stops immediately — is that the battery?

Yes, disc motor spin-up draws the highest current burst in the entire playback cycle. If the battery is at storage voltage or heavily degraded, cell voltage sags during that spike and the BMS cuts power before the disc reaches operating speed. Charge the replacement GSP613762 pack fully before the first use — the spin-up burst needs the cell sitting at or near 8.4V (4.2V per cell) to clear the startup threshold without triggering cutoff.

The SPV2715 screen keeps dimming partway through a film even with a charged battery — what's happening?

The display driver on these players monitors cell voltage under load and steps the backlight down when it reads below roughly 3.2V per cell. If dimming starts early in a film, the cell is sagging under the combined disc motor and display draw — a sign the battery's usable capacity has dropped well below rated. A fresh GSP613762 pack at full charge holds voltage above the dimming threshold through a normal-length film.

I charged the new battery overnight but the SPV2718 still won't turn on — what do I check first?

New Li-Polymer cells often ship at 30–50% state of charge, and some players will not power on from a storage-voltage cell — they need above approximately 7.0V at the pack terminals before the main board initialises. Connect the charger, wait for the charge indicator to show a full cycle completed (not just plugged in), then attempt power-on. If the player still does not start, press and hold the power button for five seconds to clear any residual state in the main board before retrying.
