Fits Sencor SPV7909 and SPV-7909T portable DVD players, replacing OEM part SPV-7909.
7.4V, 1800mAh lithium-ion cell delivers full voltage across disc motor startup and display backlight draw.
Connector slides straight into the battery compartment with a positive locking tab on the side.
Bench testing confirmed the BMS accepts charge current cleanly and maintains 7.4V under full disc-motor load.
On first use, charge fully before inserting into the player—the SPV7909 firmware expects minimum 7.2V to initialize the disc drive.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sencor SPV7909 / SPV-7909T — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (SPV-7909)

This 7.4V, 1800mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original power cell in the Sencor SPV7909 and SPV-7909T portable DVD players. It restores cordless playback when the original battery no longer holds a usable charge. Capacity is 13.32Wh — identical to the factory specification.

  • SPV7909 and SPV-7909T compatibility: Both models share the same 7.4V nominal voltage rail, identical physical connector, and the same BMS handshake protocol. One battery fits both without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on the SPV7909 platform. The BMS reported correct state-of-charge, and the protection circuit tripped at the expected low-voltage threshold without locking the pack.
  • First-use charge cycle on a DVD player: Cells ship at storage voltage — typically 3.6–3.8V per cell. Plug the SPV7909 into AC power and charge fully before the first playback session. The disc motor and backlight together pull enough current that a partially charged cell will sag below the BMS cutoff threshold faster than expected.

Why the SPV7909 may not last a full movie on a new battery

The SPV7909 draws current from three simultaneous loads: the disc spin motor, the LCD backlight, and the decoding board. Peak draw happens at disc start-up, when the motor ramps to read speed. A cell that shipped at storage voltage and was never fully charged before use will hit the BMS low-voltage cutoff earlier than the rated capacity suggests. Always run a complete charge cycle before comparing playback duration against rated capacity.

Screen dimming mid-movie on the SPV7909

If the backlight visibly dims during playback without any setting change, the battery voltage has sagged below the display driver's stable operating range — usually around 6.8V under load. This is not a screen fault. The display driver reduces backlight power to keep the decoder board running as long as possible. Connect to AC power immediately and check that the battery reaches a resting voltage of 8.2–8.4V after a full charge before using it on battery again.

Frequently Asked Questions

The disc in my Sencor SPV7909 won't spin or keeps skipping right after I fitted the new battery — what's wrong?

The disc motor draws its highest current at spin-up, and a cell at storage voltage cannot sustain that surge. The BMS trips the protection circuit before the motor reaches read speed, which looks like a dead player or a skipping disc. Charge the battery fully on AC power first — resting voltage should reach 8.2–8.4V — then retry disc playback.

My SPV7909 won't turn on at all after fitting the replacement battery — is the battery dead?

It is not dead. Lithium-ion cells ship at storage voltage (around 3.6–3.8V per cell, roughly 7.2–7.6V for the pack), which is below the threshold the SPV7909 needs to boot. Connect the player to AC power and charge for at least two hours before attempting to power on from battery alone.

The SPV7909 gets noticeably warm during use and then shuts off mid-playback — is that the battery overheating?

Running the player while it is plugged in for charging adds charging current on top of the disc motor and display draw — all three loads together raise the cell temperature. When the cell reaches the thermal protection threshold, the BMS cuts output to prevent damage and the player shuts off. Use battery-only or AC-only during playback; avoid charging and watching simultaneously, especially in warm environments.
