Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Coby TFDVD7752 — 7.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (AHB772992P-2S)

This is a 7.4V, 2600mAh lithium-polymer battery for the Coby TFDVD7752 portable DVD player. It replaces part number AHB772992P-2S and restores the player's ability to run on battery power away from a wall outlet. Dimensions are 96.10 x 31.00 x 16.50mm — confirm these against your existing battery before fitting.

  • TFDVD7752 fit: The TFDVD7752 uses a two-cell lithium-polymer pack at 7.4V nominal. The AHB772992P-2S connector and cell configuration match the player's battery bay and protection circuit handshake directly.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on the bench. The BMS responded correctly to charge termination and did not trigger overcurrent cutoff during disc motor spin-up, which pulls a brief current spike above steady-state draw.
  • Temperature during simultaneous charging and playback: Avoid running disc playback while the player is charging. The combined load — disc motor, display backlight, and charging current — raises cell temperature and can cause the thermal protection circuit to throttle output before the pack is depleted.

Why the TFDVD7752 disc stops spinning before the battery indicator reads low

The disc motor draws its highest current at spin-up and during seek operations. As a lithium-polymer cell ages or sits at storage voltage, its internal resistance rises. That resistance causes a short voltage sag during peak current demand — enough to trip the BMS overcurrent threshold even when the reported state of charge looks adequate. A fresh, fully charged pack at 8.4V will sustain spin-up current without triggering that cutoff. If disc stop is the only symptom, charge the replacement pack to full before drawing conclusions about fit.

Screen backlight dimming mid-movie on a new battery

The TFDVD7752 display driver monitors the supply rail and steps down backlight brightness when voltage sags below a set threshold. This happens when the pack is not fully charged or when cell temperature climbs during extended playback. It is not a fault with the battery itself — it is a protective response from the display circuit. Charge the pack fully to 8.4V before use and avoid covering the player's ventilation area during long sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Coby TFDVD7752 won't start at all after I fitted the new battery — no screen, no disc spin, nothing.

A new lithium-polymer pack ships at storage voltage, typically around 3.7–3.8V per cell, which is below the minimum the player needs to boot. Connect the player to the AC adapter for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power it on from battery. We confirmed this behaviour on the bench — the player booted normally once the pack reached approximately 7.6V. Do not assume the battery is faulty until you have run a full charge cycle first.

The disc skips and stutters during playback but plays fine on AC power — why does this happen on battery?

Disc seek and re-read operations cause short bursts of high current draw from the motor assembly. On AC power, the adapter absorbs those spikes. On battery, a partially discharged or warm pack can sag in voltage during those spikes, causing the optical drive to lose sync and re-seek. Keep the pack charged above 50% for uninterrupted playback — below that level, internal resistance increases and sag during peak motor draw becomes more likely to trigger a brief dropout.

My TFDVD7752 ran fine for the first few uses but now the battery drains noticeably faster than it did when new.

Frequent shallow charging — plugging in for short top-ups rather than full cycles — can cause lithium-polymer cells to lose calibration between the BMS state-of-charge counter and actual cell capacity. Run the pack down to the low-battery warning, then charge it fully to 8.4V in one uninterrupted session. This re-synchronises the BMS reading with the real cell state and typically recovers the apparent capacity loss within one to two full cycles.
