Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sepura SRP2000 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (300-00002)
This 7.4V 1800mAh Li-ion pack replaces the OEM battery in the Sepura SRP2000, SRP3000, SRC3300, and SRG3500 portable radios. It uses the same cell configuration and BMS as the original 300-00002 pack. Voltage and connector match the factory spec — no modification needed.
- SRP/SRC/SRG platform fit: The SRP2000, SRP3000, SRC3300, and SRG3500 all share the same battery bay geometry, 7.4V voltage rail, and BMS handshake protocol. One pack covers the whole platform because Sepura standardised the interface across this radio family.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full charge and transmit-load draws on the SRP2000 platform. The BMS handled the PTT current spike without tripping, and the charger dock accepted the pack on first insertion without fault codes.
- Contact strip seating on first dock insertion: If the SRP charger shows a fault LED when you first dock this pack, remove it, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The Sepura dock runs a BMS handshake on insertion — a partial contact breaks the cycle before it starts.
Why the SRP2000 cuts out mid-transmission on a new battery
A new cell ships at storage voltage — typically 3.6–3.8V per cell, not the 4.2V full-charge peak. Under the transmit current spike, that lower starting voltage can sag below the BMS cutoff threshold, which trips the protection circuit and kills TX mid-press. The radio isn't faulty and neither is the pack. Run one full charge cycle on the Sepura dock before the first operational shift. After a complete charge, the cell voltage is high enough that PTT draw no longer hits the cutoff floor.
Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected after fitting this pack
The SRP2000 reads battery level from voltage thresholds — it has no fuel gauge chip. A new pack at storage voltage reads one bar low because the cell sits below the top threshold until fully charged. This is not a capacity defect. Charge the pack fully on the Sepura dock and the indicator will step up to the correct bar count. If it still reads low after a full charge, check the dock contacts are clean and the pack is seated squarely — a weak contact causes an artificially low voltage reading at the radio's sense pin.

Frequently Asked Questions
The SRP2000 drops to reduced transmit power partway through a shift — is that the battery?
Yes, and the cause is voltage sag under sustained RF output. As the cell depletes, its internal resistance rises, and the voltage drop under transmit load becomes large enough that the radio steps down TX power to stay within its operating floor. This is normal cell behaviour, not a fault with the pack. Swap in a freshly charged battery and the radio returns to full TX power immediately.
The charger dock fault LED never clears after inserting this pack — what's wrong?
The Sepura dock runs a voltage check before it begins charging. If the pack has been in storage for an extended period and the cell voltage has dropped below roughly 2.5V per cell, the dock rejects it as outside the safe acceptance window. Remove the pack, let it sit at room temperature for 15 minutes, then reinsert. If the fault LED still doesn't clear, the cell may need a recovery charge — some third-party chargers with a recovery mode can bring the voltage back above the dock acceptance threshold before you transfer it to the Sepura unit.
The radio powers on fine but the BMS trips every time PTT is held down for more than a few seconds — what causes that?
Sustained PTT draws a higher continuous current than a short key-up, and if the cell impedance has risen — either from age or from a deep-discharge cycle — the BMS protection circuit sees the voltage collapse and trips as a safety measure. Check the pack's resting voltage before fitting: it should read at least 7.2V off the charger. If it reads below 7.0V after a full charge cycle, the cells have degraded and the pack needs replacing rather than recharging.
