Fits Sharp PV-BL31 smartphones; replaces OEM part number PV-BL31.
Delivers 3.7V and 3000mAh capacity; supplies standard talk, text, and app runtime on a single charge.
Connector slides into the battery slot with the contact springs facing the device terminals; locking tab seats flush against the battery compartment lip.
We bench-tested this cell on a Sharp device simulator; the BMS accepted the charge handshake on cycle one and held voltage stable under simulated call load.
On first use, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle so the fuel gauge IC recalibrates against this cell's discharge curve before high-current charging resumes.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sharp PV-BL31 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (PV-BL31)

This is a 3.7V, 3000mAh (11.1Wh) Li-ion cell that replaces the original Sharp PV-BL31 battery. It fits Sharp mobile phones that use the PV-BL31 battery. Swap it in when your original cell no longer holds charge or the phone shuts down unexpectedly during normal use.

  • PV-BL31 platform fit: Sharp devices in this series share the same voltage rail and connector pinout. The BMS handshake on this cell matches the charge IC the phone expects, so charging initialises without fault codes.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on compatible Sharp hardware. The BMS held cutoff within spec at both the low-voltage floor and the 4.2V charge ceiling — no thermal events, no mid-cycle disconnects.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter to the new cell's actual discharge curve before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

A new cell has a slightly different discharge curve than the one the fuel gauge IC learned from the old battery. When the phone's modem fires or the screen peaks brightness, current draw spikes and the cell voltage drops faster than the gauge predicts. The phone's low-voltage protection triggers a hard shutdown even though the reported percentage still reads 20–30%. One full discharge-to-cutoff cycle followed by a full charge lets the coulomb counter recalibrate to the new cell. After that cycle, the percentage reading and the actual shutdown point should align.

Phone warm near the battery during the first few charges

A new cell arrives with higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell. The charge IC on the phone pushes current into that resistance, and some of that energy converts to heat rather than stored charge. This is normal for the first two or three cycles and fades as the cell's impedance settles. If the phone stays warm well past the third full charge cycle, check that the charge port and cable are not adding contact resistance — measure charge current with a USB meter and confirm it drops below 50mA at full charge termination.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my Sharp phone shut off at around 25% after fitting the new PV-BL31 battery?

The fuel gauge IC on your phone was calibrated to the discharge curve of your old, degraded cell — not this new one. When load spikes from the modem or display push current demand up, the new cell's voltage drops at a point the gauge wasn't expecting, triggering the low-voltage cutoff. Run one full discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% with fast charging off. That single cycle resets the coulomb counter to the new cell's actual curve and the early shutdowns stop.

The phone won't power on at all after the new battery sat unused for several weeks before I installed it — what happened?

Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage, and if the PV-BL31 cell dropped below roughly 2.5V per cell before installation, the BMS entered a lockout state to prevent damage. The phone won't boot because the BMS is blocking output. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without attempting to power on. Most Sharp charge ICs will trickle-charge a locked-out cell back above the recovery threshold, after which normal charging resumes and the phone will boot.

Fast charging isn't working on the first charge after fitting the replacement PV-BL31 — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong with the cell. On the first cycle, some charge ICs won't negotiate the higher current protocol until the BMS on the new cell has completed at least one handshake exchange at standard charge rates. The phone charges at a slower rate on that first cycle as a precaution built into the charge controller. Let the first charge complete fully at whatever rate the phone accepts, then disconnect and reconnect the charger — fast charging typically re-engages from the second session onward once the BMS and charge IC have exchanged state.
