SY-1200 will not power on after the replacement battery sat in storage

Ni-MH cells self-discharge at roughly 1–2% per day in storage. A cell that has sat unconnected for several weeks can drop below the SY-1200's BMS recovery threshold — typically around 9V for a 12V Ni-MH pack — and the device will not boot. Connect the battery to a compatible external Ni-MH charger to bring the cell back above 10.5V, then reinsert and attempt a normal charge cycle in-device. Do not attempt clinical use until a full charge cycle completes.

New Ni-MH cells run with slightly higher internal resistance in the first 5–10 cycles, which causes greater voltage sag under the infusion pump's load profile. If the sag crosses the BMS low-voltage cutoff threshold, the device shuts off as a protection response — not a fault. This behaviour typically stabilises after 5–8 full charge-discharge cycles as the cell's internal resistance drops. Condition the battery through several full cycles before relying on it in continuous clinical use.
