Fits Sony WF-1000XM2 earbuds; replaces OEM part SP561150 for individual earbud units.
3.7V, 280mAh lithium-polymer cell powers active noise cancellation and wireless connectivity in each bud.
Connector seats into earbud charging contacts with flat orientation; no locking tab required for this design.
We bench-tested the cell at 0.5C discharge; BMS accepted the charge cycle and held voltage stable under combined audio-plus-radio draw.
On first use, charge both earbuds in the case for one complete cycle before extended calls — the WF-1000XM2 firmware logs new cell capacity during this initial pairing.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sony WF-1000XM2 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (SP561150)

This 3.7V, 280mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original SP561150 battery inside the Sony WF-1000XM2 wireless earbud unit. It restores power to the active noise cancellation circuit, Bluetooth radio, and audio driver in a single earbud housing. Dimensions are 51.00 × 10.40 × 5.80mm — verify against the original cell before fitting.

  • WF-1000XM2 earbud fit: The WF-1000XM2 runs ANC processing, a Bluetooth 4.2 radio, and audio playback simultaneously off one small cell per earbud. The SP561150 footprint and connector position are specific to this unit — no cross-compatibility with XM3 or XM4 cells.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell under combined ANC-plus-radio load. The BMS held stable voltage across the draw curve and cut off cleanly at the low-voltage threshold without tripping mid-cycle.
  • First charge after fitting: Place the earbud in the charging case immediately after installation and run a complete charge cycle before use. The case needs to log the new cell's charge state — skipping this step causes the battery indicator to read incorrectly from the first use.

Why the WF-1000XM2 cuts out mid-call on a new battery

The earbud draws simultaneously from the ANC processor, the Bluetooth radio, and the audio circuit. That combined current spike — especially when ANC adjusts to a sudden ambient noise change — can pull voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold on a cell that hasn't been conditioned. The BMS interprets the sag as a depleted cell and shuts down the output rail. Running two to three full charge-discharge cycles through the charging case raises the cell's delivery capacity and stabilises the voltage under load.

Charging case shows full but earbud dies quickly after replacement

A freshly installed cell ships at storage voltage — typically around 3.6V — not at full charge. If you seat the earbud and check the case indicator before completing a full charge cycle, the case reads the cell as charged based on contact voltage, not actual state of charge. The earbud then cuts off well before expected. Fix this by leaving the earbud in the case for a full uninterrupted charge cycle — the indicator should show full at or above 4.1V before first use.

Frequently Asked Questions

My WF-1000XM2 keeps cutting out mid-call even though the battery shows charged — what's causing it?

This is a voltage sag issue, not a charge level issue. The earbud pulls current from the ANC circuit, Bluetooth radio, and audio driver at the same time, and a new or recently replaced cell may not yet deliver enough sustained current to handle that combined draw. The BMS trips the low-voltage cutoff during the peak demand spike and shuts the earbud down. Run three full charge-discharge cycles through the charging case and the cutoff behaviour should stop.

The charging case won't recognise the new cell — it just blinks an error and won't start charging. What do I do?

The case communicates with the earbud's BMS before it begins charging, and if the cell voltage is below the BMS handshake threshold, the case rejects it as a fault. Remove the earbud, leave it out for 30 seconds, then reseat it firmly — the connector contact must be fully engaged. If the case still shows an error, connect the case itself to USB power while the earbud is seated; external power gives the system enough to complete the BMS initialisation at low cell voltage.

Talk time is noticeably short for the first few uses after fitting a new battery — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong — Li-Polymer cells don't deliver full rated capacity from the first cycle. A new SP561150 cell will typically reach closer to its 280mAh rating after three to five full charge-discharge cycles through the case. Each cycle allows the electrolyte to wet the electrode surfaces more completely, reducing internal resistance and improving capacity delivery. Avoid pulling the earbud out of the case before the charge indicator shows full during these early cycles.
