Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Southwestern Bell BBTY0623001 / BT1006 / BT905 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V 700mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for Southwestern Bell cordless phone handsets. It fits the BBTY0623001, BT1006, BT800, BT905, and 32 additional handset models. Swap it in when the original pack no longer holds enough charge to keep the handset off the base.

  • Multi-model fit across the BT and BBTY handset lines: These handsets share the same 3.6V three-cell NiMH pack format, connector pinout, and base-station charging circuit. One battery fits all listed models without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through the base station charging circuit and confirmed the NiMH cells accept the trickle charge correctly. The BMS held steady at cutoff voltage and the charge indicator on the base lit as expected.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH cordless handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells fresh from storage have suppressed capacity — the slow overnight charge lets each cell reach its rated voltage and restores full 700mAh capacity.

Base station charging error light on a new NiMH pack

NiMH batteries lose voltage during storage. If the pack sits long enough, its resting voltage drops below the threshold the base station expects before it starts a charge cycle. The base reads this as a fault and shows an error light instead of a charge light. To recover, remove the battery from the handset, hold it at room temperature for 10 minutes, then reseat it firmly and place the handset back in the base — most bases will then accept the pack and begin charging normally.

Talk time shorter than the original battery for the first few uses

NiMH cells need three to five full charge-and-use cycles before they reach rated capacity — this is normal, not a fault. Each cycle pushes the cells slightly deeper into their full charge window. By cycle four or five, talk time should match or exceed the original pack. If talk time is still noticeably short after five full cycles, check that the handset is fully seated in the base cradle during each charge, as a loose contact prevents a complete charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Southwestern Bell handset loses range near the edge of the house right after a battery swap — is the new pack the cause?

Yes, and it's a voltage issue, not a defective battery. NiMH cells straight from storage sit low on voltage, and the handset's RF transmitter draws a surge of current when reaching for the base station at range. That surge sags the pack voltage, the handset pulls back transmit power, and range drops. Run three full charge-and-use cycles first — once the cells are properly conditioned, the voltage holds steady under RF load and range returns to normal.

The handset stopped pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I fix it?

Some DECT cordless phones lose their pairing data when power is fully removed. The handset forgets the base station's registration, so it can't re-establish the link. Re-register the handset manually: press and hold the "Find Handset" or "Page" button on the base for 5–10 seconds until the base beeps, then follow the pairing steps in your model's manual. The pairing process is in the same section as initial setup — it takes under two minutes.

My handset battery is nearly dead every morning even though I put it back on the base each night — what's draining it?

This is a standby draw issue, not a capacity fault. If the handset isn't fully seated in the cradle, the charging contacts don't make a clean connection and the handset slowly drains overnight instead of topping up. Check that the handset clicks or sits flush in the base and that the charge light comes on within a few seconds of placing it down. If the light doesn't appear, clean the metal contacts on both the handset and base with a dry cloth and reseat it.
