Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Switel M160 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V Li-ion cell rated at 1200mAh (4.44Wh), cut to fit the Switel M160 mobile phone. It replaces the original cell when the existing battery no longer holds a usable charge or fails to power the device. Physical dimensions are 53.00 × 33.90 × 5.70mm — measure your existing cell before ordering.

  • M160 fit: The M160 runs a single-cell 3.7V architecture with a compact form factor. This cell matches that voltage rail and connector orientation, so the phone's charge IC can communicate correctly with the replacement cell from the first cycle.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on a Switel M160 unit and monitored BMS handshake, charge acceptance, and cutoff thresholds. The protection circuit triggered correctly at the low-voltage floor without needing a manual reset.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, disable any fast-charge option and run one full discharge-to-charge cycle before normal use. This gives the fuel gauge IC time to map the new cell's discharge curve — without it, percentage readouts can be off by 15–20% for the first several cycles.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Switel M160

This happens when the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. The phone reads 25% remaining, but the new cell hits a voltage cliff under modem or screen load and drops below the cutoff threshold instantly. The BMS shuts the phone down to protect the cell — it is not a fault in the replacement battery. One complete discharge cycle from 100% to automatic shutdown, followed by a full charge, forces the coulomb counter to re-anchor to the new cell's actual capacity.

Phone won't power on after the replacement cell sat in storage

If the battery has been stored discharged for several weeks, the cell voltage can drop below 2.5V and trigger BMS lockout. The phone shows nothing on screen and does not respond to the charge cable. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. Once the cell recovers above 3.0V, the BMS exits lockout and the phone will boot normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Switel M160 shuts off randomly around 25% battery — is the new cell faulty?

It is not a faulty cell. The fuel gauge IC on the M160 is still using the discharge curve it learned from the old, degraded battery. When the new cell hits a voltage drop under screen or call load, the phone interprets it as empty and shuts down. Run one full discharge — let the phone power off on its own — then charge to 100% without interruption. After that cycle, the coulomb counter recalibrates and the shutdowns stop.

The battery percentage on my M160 jumps around erratically after fitting this replacement — 60% one minute, then 40% the next.

Erratic percentage readings are a fuel gauge IC recalibration issue, not a cell defect. The IC built its reference model on the old cell and the new cell's discharge curve does not match it yet. Avoid topping up in short bursts — those partial cycles confuse the counter further. Do one uninterrupted charge from near-empty to full, and the readings will stabilise within two to three cycles.

My M160 won't turn on at all after I installed the replacement battery — nothing on screen, no charging indicator.

The cell likely discharged below 2.5V during shipping or storage, which puts the BMS into lockout mode. Plug the phone into a wall adapter and leave it untouched for at least 25 minutes — do not press the power button during this time. Once the cell recovers above 3.0V, the BMS releases and the phone will respond to the power button. If the charging indicator still does not appear after 30 minutes, check that the battery connector is fully seated.
