Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Taurus Homeland Gyro — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (098060000)
This 14.4V, 2600mAh Li-ion battery fits the Taurus Homeland Gyro, RVCA1000B, RVCA1001B, and Homeland Laser cordless vacuum cleaners. It replaces OEM part numbers 098060000 and 098060. Capacity figure is taken directly from the product data — 37.44Wh total energy.
- Homeland Gyro and RVCA series compatibility: These models share a common 14.4V battery platform with the same connector format and BMS handshake protocol, so one cell fits across the range without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on compatible Taurus vacuum hardware. The BMS engaged correctly at low-voltage cutoff and the motor controller accepted the pack without fault codes.
- Dock charging habit on cordless vacuums: Do not leave the Homeland Gyro sitting on the dock permanently. Continuous trickle charging from the dock degrades cell capacity faster than normal cycling — charge to full, then remove the vacuum from the dock.
Cordless vacuum losing suction before the battery indicator reaches low
The Homeland Gyro's motor draws significantly more current when airflow is restricted — a partially blocked filter forces the motor to work harder, pulling amperage above its rated draw. The BMS detects this elevated current and reduces output voltage to protect the cells, which the motor controller reads as a low-battery condition. Suction drops noticeably even though the indicator still shows charge remaining. Clean the filter before assuming the battery is the cause — a clean filter brings motor draw back within normal range and the voltage sag disappears.
Motor cuts out mid-clean then recovers after a few seconds
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a failing battery. When the Homeland Gyro picks up a blockage or runs at full power on heavy carpet, instantaneous current demand spikes beyond the BMS threshold and the pack shuts the motor off. The BMS resets after a short thermal or timing delay, which is why the vacuum restarts on its own. Check the brush roll and air path for a partial blockage first. If trips keep occurring on a clear machine, measure pack voltage at rest — a healthy cell should read between 15.8V and 16.4V fully charged.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Taurus Homeland Gyro loses suction halfway through cleaning even though the battery light isn't showing low — is the new battery faulty?
Not likely the battery. When airflow is restricted — a clogged filter or blocked brush roll — the motor draws more current than rated, causing the BMS to sag output voltage to protect the cells. The vacuum's motor controller interprets that voltage drop as low battery and reduces power to the motor. Clean the filter and check the brush roll for wrapped debris, then run the vacuum again — if suction holds, the pack is fine.
The motor on my Homeland Gyro cuts out for a few seconds then comes back on its own — what's causing that?
That's a BMS overcurrent trip. A sudden load spike — heavy carpet, a partial blockage, or sustained full-power use — pushes instantaneous current above the BMS protection threshold and the pack shuts the output off momentarily. The BMS resets after a short delay, which is why the motor restarts by itself. Clear any blockage in the air path first; if trips continue on an unobstructed machine, check pack resting voltage with a multimeter — it should sit at 15.8V or above after a full charge.
The replacement battery charges once but loses noticeably more capacity after just a few weeks — did I get a bad cell?
Probably not a defective cell — this pattern is almost always caused by leaving the Homeland Gyro on the dock continuously. The dock applies a trickle charge whenever the pack voltage dips slightly, and repeated shallow top-up cycles degrade lithium-ion cells faster than full charge-discharge cycles. Charge the battery fully, then remove the vacuum from the dock and store it off the charger. Return it to the dock only when the battery is genuinely depleted — capacity should stabilise across subsequent cycles.
