Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Tecno HD61 Album — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V 1050mAh Li-ion battery carrying OEM part number HD61 Album. It fits the Tecno smartphone that originally shipped with this cell. Voltage and capacity match the factory specification at 3.7V and 3.89Wh.

  • HD61 Album platform fit: Tecno devices sharing this part number use the same voltage rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake. Swapping to this cell does not trigger hardware mismatch warnings because the connector and communication lines are identical to the original.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge, discharge, and modem-load scenarios. The BMS held cutoff correctly at both the high and low voltage thresholds, and charge termination triggered cleanly at full capacity without overrun.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration after install: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-charge cycle at standard rate. This lets the fuel gauge IC learn the new cell's discharge curve before any high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated cell.

Why the Tecno phone reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The fuel gauge IC stores a learned discharge model built from the old cell's behaviour. When a new cell goes in, that stored curve no longer matches the actual voltage-to-capacity relationship of the fresh cell. The IC reads voltage correctly but maps it to the wrong percentage point. One complete discharge-charge cycle at standard rate forces the coulomb counter to rebuild its model against the new cell, after which percentage reporting stabilises.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% remaining on the new cell

This happens when the fuel gauge IC still holds the old cell's degraded voltage curve in memory. The new cell hits a steeper voltage drop under modem or screen load than the IC expects, so the phone shuts down before the displayed percentage reaches zero. It is not a defective cell — it is a calibration mismatch. Run one full discharge until automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% to reset the fuel gauge reference points.

Frequently Asked Questions

The phone won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for months — is the cell dead?

Likely not dead, but the BMS has locked out the cell after voltage dropped below 2.5V during storage. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC port — and leave it for 15–20 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC needs a trickle current window to bring the cell voltage back above the BMS recovery threshold before the phone will boot. If the charge indicator appears after that window, the cell is recovering normally.

Fast charging stopped working after I fitted the replacement — the phone only charges at slow speed now.

On the first cycle after a cell swap, the USB-PD or proprietary fast-charge handshake can fail because the charge IC defaults to a conservative profile until it completes one full standard-rate cycle. The BMS on the new cell has not yet confirmed its internal resistance and temperature response to the charge IC. Charge fully once at standard rate, let the phone discharge below 20%, then charge again — fast charge protocol acceptance typically restores on the second cycle.

The battery percentage jumps around erratically — skipping 5–10% in seconds — even though the phone seems to work fine otherwise.

Erratic percentage jumps are the fuel gauge IC recalibrating its coulomb counter against a cell it has never seen before. The IC is tracking charge in and out correctly, but its state-of-charge model is still anchored to the old cell's curve. This is not a cell fault. Complete two full discharge-charge cycles at standard rate and the coulomb counter will lock onto the new cell's actual voltage profile, smoothing out the percentage display.
