Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

This happens when the motor draws more current than the BMS expects — usually caused by a partially blocked filter restricting airflow. The motor compensates by pulling harder, voltage sags under that extra load, and the BMS interprets the sag as a low-cell condition. The indicator still reads mid-charge because resting voltage recovers the moment load drops. Clear the filter first — if suction still drops under load after that, the original cell has lost enough capacity that voltage sag occurs even at normal draw, and replacement is the correct fix.

Motor cuts out briefly then recovers during use

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a mechanical fault. When suction is restricted — blocked nozzle, clogged filter, or hair wrapped around the brush head — the motor current spikes above the BMS cutoff threshold. The BMS disconnects, the motor stops, and after a few seconds the BMS resets and power returns. Check and clear the filter and brush head completely. If trips continue on an unobstructed machine, measure resting pack voltage — a healthy cell should read 16.2V or above after a full charge.
