Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Tegra Model 4 Smartphone — 3.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This Tegra battery replaces the original cell in the Model 4 smartphone. It runs at 3.8V with a 2300mAh (8.74Wh) capacity using Li-ion chemistry. Physical dimensions are 72.90 × 53.60 × 4.70mm — verify your existing cell before ordering.
- Model 4 fitment: This cell matches the voltage rail and connector pinout for the Model 4. The BMS communicates with the phone's charge IC over the same data line as the factory cell, so the handshake clears on first boot.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Model 4 platform. The BMS held the charge termination voltage correctly and did not trip the phone's overcurrent protection during load steps.
- First-cycle fuel gauge recalibration: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-to-charge cycle. The fuel gauge IC learns the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging is applied to an uncalibrated cell — skipping this causes percentage jumps for the first several cycles.
Why the Model 4 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The Model 4 uses a coulomb counter that builds its reference model against the original cell's discharge curve. When a new cell goes in, the stored curve no longer matches actual cell behaviour. The fuel gauge IC then projects state-of-charge using stale data, which produces readings that lag or jump. One full slow-charge cycle without fast charging gives the coulomb counter enough data to converge on an accurate curve for the new cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% remaining on the new cell
This happens when the cell voltage drops sharply under a sudden load — typically the LTE modem or a screen brightness spike. The BMS reads a voltage cliff and cuts power before the OS can log a low-battery event, so the shutdown looks random. It is most common on a new cell that has not yet completed a calibration cycle. Run the phone down to 5% under normal use, charge to 100% without interruption, and the fuel gauge will remap the cliff point accurately — check that the resting voltage at 30% reads above 3.65V after the cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Model 4 won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is the cell dead?
The BMS locks out when cell voltage drops below approximately 2.5V during storage, which is a hard protection state. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without attempting to power it on. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell until voltage climbs back above the BMS recovery threshold, at which point the phone will boot normally. If the screen shows nothing after 45 minutes on the wall charger, measure the battery terminals directly — a reading below 2.0V means the cell discharged past recovery.
Fast charging stopped working after I fitted this battery — the phone only charges slowly now.
USB-PD and proprietary fast-charge protocols require a BMS handshake before the charger steps up voltage. On a brand-new cell, that handshake sometimes fails on the first one or two cycles because the BMS has not yet completed its initialisation sequence. Charge the phone fully at standard speed, then disconnect and reconnect the charger — fast charge typically resumes from the second cycle onward. If slow charging persists after three full cycles, check that the charge cable supports the Model 4's required protocol, as a standard USB-A cable will never trigger fast charge regardless of the battery fitted.
The phone feels warm near the battery during the first few charges — is something wrong?
Mild warmth on the first few charges is normal with a new high-impedance cell. A fresh Li-ion cell has slightly elevated internal resistance compared to a cell that has been cycled, which means the charge IC dissipates more energy as heat during the constant-current phase. This typically reduces after three to five full cycles as the cell's internal resistance settles. If the back of the phone becomes hot to the touch — above roughly 45°C — stop charging, let it cool, and retry with a different cable and charger to rule out a charge IC overcurrent condition.
