Fits ZTE N986, V975, U988S, Q802T and 36 additional models; replaces OEM Li3823T43P3h735350.
3.8V, 2300mAh cell restores full charge capacity to devices experiencing rapid drain or sudden shutdown.
Connector seats flush into the battery slot with single locking tab; orientation marked on housing.
We ran discharge cycles on the N986 motherboard—BMS accepted the cell without fault codes; fuel gauge IC required one full cycle to recalibrate against the new discharge curve.
On first charge after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle to let the coulomb counter recalibrate against this cell's discharge signature before high-current charging resumes.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

ZTE N986 / V975 Series — 3.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (Li3823T43P3h735350)

This is a 3.8V, 2300mAh Li-ion cell that replaces the OEM battery in the ZTE N986, V975, U988S, Q802T, and over 36 compatible models. It matches the original voltage rail and physical footprint at 72.90 × 53.60 × 4.70mm. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds charge or causes unexpected shutdowns.

  • N986 / V975 platform compatibility: These models share the Li3823T43P3h735350 form factor and 3.8V nominal rail. The connector pinout and BMS handshake are consistent across the N986, V975, U988S, and Q802T, so one cell covers the full group without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and load on the N986 platform. The BMS accepted the charge IC handshake on the first cycle and held voltage within spec across both idle and screen-on modem load.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-to-charge cycle at standard rate. This gives the fuel gauge IC time to map the new cell's discharge curve before fast charge pushes high current into an uncalibrated state.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the ZTE N986 after a cell swap

The N986's fuel gauge IC retains the discharge curve of the old, degraded cell after a swap. When the new cell hits a voltage point the IC associates with 20–30% on the old curve, it can trigger an emergency shutdown — even though actual charge remains. This is a coulomb counter mismatch, not a cell defect. One full uninterrupted discharge down to automatic power-off, followed by a full charge, resets the reference curve and stops the false cutoffs.

Phone won't power on after the replacement battery sat in storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the cell dropped below approximately 2.5V per cell, the BMS enters a lockout state and blocks normal boot to protect the cell from damage. Plug the phone into a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 15–20 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell until voltage clears the BMS recovery threshold, at which point the phone will boot or show the charging screen normally. If voltage has fallen below 2.0V, the BMS may not recover and the cell should be replaced.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my ZTE N986 showing the wrong battery percentage after I put in the new cell?

The fuel gauge IC on the N986 is calibrated to the discharge curve of the old cell, not the replacement. It reads voltage and estimates percentage against that old map, so the displayed number will be off until it learns the new curve. Run one complete discharge — let the phone power itself off — then charge to 100% without interruption. After that single cycle, the coulomb counter resets its reference and the percentage readout tracks accurately.

Fast charging stopped working on my ZTE N986 right after I installed the replacement battery — why?

On the first charge cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC sometimes does not negotiate the fast-charge protocol with the new BMS until baseline communication is established. Plug into your original ZTE charger and let it complete one full charge at whatever rate it accepts — it may start at standard rate. On the second cycle, fast charging typically resumes once the charge IC has confirmed BMS handshake parameters with the new cell.

The back of my ZTE N986 gets warm near the battery during the first few charges — is that a fault?

A new Li-ion cell has slightly higher internal impedance than a broken-in one. The charge IC pushes current into that higher-resistance cell during early cycles, and some of that energy converts to heat rather than stored charge. This is normal for the first two to three cycles and the warmth should reduce as impedance drops. If the phone becomes hot to the touch or shows a temperature warning on screen, stop charging immediately and check that the battery connector is fully seated flat against the board.
