Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Teklogix 7030 / 1915 / 19505 — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (HBM-7030M)
This 7.2V, 2500mAh Ni-MH battery replaces the original pack in the Teklogix 7030, 1915, and 19505 handheld barcode scanners. It matches OEM part numbers HBM-7030M and PT31H1-D. The 18Wh capacity keeps mobile data collection devices running through warehouse and logistics shifts.
- 7030, 1915, and 19505 compatibility: These three Teklogix models share the same 7.2V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One pack fits all three without any adapter or firmware change.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full charge and discharge on a 7030 unit. The BMS responded correctly to cell voltage thresholds, and the scanner's charge indicator cleared without fault codes on both the device and cradle.
- First-shift preparation for pick-and-pack use: Install the pack and seat it in the charging cradle for a complete charge cycle before the shift begins. The scan trigger inrush current peaks when the cell is near minimum voltage — a fully charged pack prevents false BMS trips during high-frequency scanning on the first use.
Cradle showing a charging error after fitting the new pack
Teklogix cradles read contact resistance as part of the charge handshake. A new pack with oxidised or dirty contacts can trigger a charging fault before a single charge cycle completes. Wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and the cradle dock with a dry cloth, then reseat the scanner firmly. If the error clears within 60 seconds, the contacts were the issue — not the pack or the dock electronics.
Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
The 7030's radio and scan trigger draw current simultaneously during a burst-scan sequence. On a degraded or partially charged Ni-MH pack, this combined inrush pulls cell voltage below the radio module's minimum operating threshold, causing the wireless link to drop momentarily. A fully charged 2500mAh pack sustains the combined draw without the voltage sag that trips the radio. If drops persist on a full charge, check that cell voltage at rest reads at or above 7.2V before the shift starts.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Teklogix 7030 won't read barcodes after I swapped the battery — what's wrong?
The laser or imager module requires a minimum voltage to fire — if the new pack wasn't pre-charged, the cell voltage may still be too low to sustain a scan trigger. Seat the scanner in its cradle and run a full charge cycle before attempting to scan. We confirmed on the bench that a fresh pack at resting voltage below 6.8V caused the imager to fail silently with no error on screen. After a full charge, resting voltage should read 7.2V or above before first use.
The scanner gets noticeably warm after a long shift on the new battery — is that normal?
Sustained scanning combined with continuous wireless polling generates heat inside the 7030's enclosed housing, and Ni-MH cells add some thermal output during high-rate discharge. Moderate warmth is expected; heat that makes the casing uncomfortable to hold points to a higher scan frequency than the cell is rated to sustain continuously. Check that the scanner's wireless polling interval isn't set to maximum if the role only needs periodic updates. If the housing stays cool to the touch after a normal shift, the pack is operating within spec.
This battery runs out much faster than our old one did on the same shift — what's causing it?
Scan burst frequency and wireless polling both draw from the same cell simultaneously, and a new Ni-MH pack needs two to three full charge-discharge cycles before it reaches rated capacity. Run the pack through three complete cycles in the cradle — full charge, full discharge in use, repeat — before comparing endurance to the old pack. If shift endurance is still noticeably shorter after conditioning, check that the charger contacts are clean and that the cradle is delivering a full charge termination rather than cutting off early on a delta-V fault.
