Fits Telesys TS5020 cordless phone handset, replaces original 3.6V Ni-MH battery pack.
3.6V 1200mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers 4.32Wh — matches original capacity for full talk and standby time on TS5020 base station range.
Connector accepts original Telesys slide-tab contact block; insert battery into handset slot until locking tab seats with audible click.
Bench tested on TS5020 charger cradle — BMS voltage ramps linearly, no early cutoff; base station accepts charge immediately on fresh handset seating.
Place handset in base for full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH packs in cordless phones require slow initial charge to reach rated capacity and prevent base station voltage rejection errors.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Telesys TS5020 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V 1200mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Telesys TS5020 cordless phone handset. It slots into the handset battery compartment and restores wireless operation when the original cell no longer holds charge. Voltage and capacity match the stock specification exactly.

  • TS5020 handset fit: The TS5020 runs a single-cell Ni-MH pack at 3.6V nominal. The base station charges through fixed contact pins and the BMS in the handset monitors charge termination by delta-V detection — a mismatch in cell chemistry or voltage would cause the base to reject the charge cycle entirely.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on Ni-MH test equipment and confirmed the BMS accepted delta-V termination correctly. Capacity reading at the end of cycle three reached rated capacity within normal tolerance.
  • First charge protocol for Ni-MH handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it undisturbed for a full 16 hours before first use. Ni-MH cells in cordless phones need a slow, uninterrupted initial charge to fully form — pulling the handset early locks in a lower usable capacity from the start.

Base station charge light stays off or shows error on a new Ni-MH pack

Ni-MH cells lose voltage during storage. If a new battery sits in a warehouse for several months, its resting voltage can drop below the threshold the TS5020 base expects to see before initiating a charge cycle. The base interprets this as a missing or faulty pack and shows no charge activity. Placing the handset in the base and waiting up to 30 minutes allows the charger circuit to trickle-feed enough current to bring the cell voltage back above the acceptance threshold — after that, normal charging begins.

Range drops noticeably mid-call after fitting a replacement battery

DECT transmit circuitry in the TS5020 draws a current spike during each radio burst. A Ni-MH cell that has not completed its first few conditioning cycles has higher internal resistance, which causes voltage to sag under that RF load. The handset detects the sag and reduces transmit power to protect the circuit — range falls as a result. Run three to five full charge-and-use cycles and internal resistance drops; voltage sag under RF load reduces and range returns to normal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Talk time is much shorter than expected — is something wrong with this battery?

No fault — this is normal Ni-MH behaviour for the first three to five cycles. Fresh Ni-MH cells have not yet reached full electrochemical activation, so usable capacity starts below the rated 1200mAh and climbs with each full charge-and-use cycle. Run the handset down until it beeps low, then return it to the base for a full charge each time. By cycle five, capacity should be at or near rated level.

The handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I fix it?

Some DECT phones drop their pairing data when power is fully removed from the handset, which happens the moment the old battery comes out. This is a firmware behaviour in the handset, not a battery fault. Re-pair by pressing the registration button on the base station for three seconds, then navigating to the handset's pairing menu — the exact button label varies, but it is listed in the TS5020 manual under "Register Handset."

The battery drains completely overnight even though the handset is sitting in the base

This points to a seating issue, not a battery fault. If the handset contact pins are not making clean contact with the base charging terminals, the base never delivers charge and the handset runs on standby draw until the cell is flat. Remove the handset, wipe both sets of contact pins with a dry cloth, and re-seat it firmly — the charge indicator light should activate within 30 seconds of correct seating.
