Fits TomTom Quanta and Go XL330S GPS navigators; replaces OEM part number VF3.
3.7V 1100mAh lithium-ion cell delivers the original capacity for full navigation runtime between charges.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a single locking tab; no adapter needed.
We bench-tested this cell in a Quanta unit — BMS accepted the new pack on first insertion with normal charge acceptance curve.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before navigation — cold start after power interruption requires 5-10 minutes for first fix versus under a minute for subsequent warm starts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

TomTom Quanta / Go XL330S — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (VF3)

This 3.7V 1100mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original VF3 battery in the TomTom Quanta and Go XL330S portable GPS navigators. It restores untethered operation when the original cell no longer holds a charge. Voltage and capacity match OEM spec exactly — no adapters or modifications needed.

  • Quanta and Go XL330S compatibility: Both units run the same 3.7V single-cell architecture with an identical connector footprint and BMS handshake protocol, which is why one cell covers both models without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Quanta platform. The BMS accepted the cell immediately, reported charge state correctly, and held voltage steady through active navigation workloads with no unexpected cutoff events.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after installation: After fitting this cell, power the unit on outdoors before driving. The GPS performs a cold start following any full power interruption — first satellite fix can take 5–10 minutes. Subsequent power cycles drop back to a warm-start fix in under a minute.

GPS accuracy reduced at low battery on the Quanta

When the Quanta's cell drops below roughly 3.5V, the device reduces power to the GPS receiver to protect remaining charge. This cuts antenna sensitivity, which degrades position accuracy and can cause the route marker to drift off-road. The fix is straightforward — plug into vehicle power or charge the unit before the indicator hits one bar. A fresh cell at full charge eliminates this threshold entirely during normal use.

Quanta shutting off without any low-battery warning

This happens when the battery indicator is no longer calibrated to the cell's actual discharge curve. The display still shows one or two bars when the cell voltage has already fallen to the BMS cutoff threshold — around 3.0V — so the device cuts out mid-route with no visual warning. After fitting a new cell, run it through one full charge cycle to let the device recalibrate the indicator. The shutdown-without-warning behaviour stops once the firmware maps the new cell's discharge curve correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions

My TomTom Quanta saved routes and favourites were wiped after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The Quanta stores some navigation data in RAM that requires continuous power to retain. Removing the original cell fully resets that volatile memory, which wipes unsaved routes and recent destinations. Favourites stored to the device's internal flash should survive, but any active route or recent history will be gone. Before swapping, sync the device to TomTom MyDrive to back up saved places.

The Quanta is taking 8–10 minutes to find a GPS signal after I fitted the new battery — something wrong with the cell?

Nothing is wrong. After a full power interruption, the GPS receiver loses its last known position and satellite almanac data, forcing a cold start. A cold start always takes 5–10 minutes to acquire enough satellites for a fix. Once the device has locked on and you complete a full power cycle, subsequent starts use the cached almanac and fix in under a minute. Take the unit outside with a clear sky view for the first lock — an obstructed signal from inside a building will extend that window further.

The Quanta drains noticeably faster when actively navigating than when it's just sitting on the home screen — is this a fault?

No — this is normal and expected. Active navigation runs the GPS receiver, map renderer, and display simultaneously, which draws significantly more current than the idle home screen. Backlight brightness has the biggest single impact; dropping it by 50% measurably extends the charge between plugging in. If the drain still seems excessive even at reduced brightness, check that live traffic or connected services are not active in settings, as those keep the radio polling continuously.
