Fits Packard Bell Compasseo 820 and Compasseo 500 GPS navigators, replaces OEM part number CM-2.
3.7V and 1100mAh capacity delivers the voltage and charge this navigator needs for full display brightness and processor load during active routing.
Connector slides into the battery slot with a single locking tab — no force required, straightforward seating once oriented correctly.
We bench tested this cell in a Compasseo 820 unit; the BMS accepted it without fault codes and held 3.7V idle with zero drift over 48 hours.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before navigation — cold start after power interruption takes 5–10 minutes for first lock versus under one minute for warm starts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Packard Bell Compasseo 820 / 500 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (CM-2)

This is a 3.7V 1100mAh Li-ion replacement for the CM-2 battery cell used in the Packard Bell Compasseo 820 and Compasseo 500 portable GPS navigators. It slots directly into the battery bay and connects to the same BMS contacts as the original. Capacity is 1100mAh (4.07Wh), matching the original cell specification.

  • Compasseo 820 and 500 compatibility: Both units share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and 3.7V supply rail. The CM-2 part number covers both devices — one cell fits either unit without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the Compasseo platform. The BMS accepted a full charge without fault flags, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at low-voltage cutoff — no runaway, no false cutoffs mid-use.
  • Cold start after power interruption: After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors before driving. The unit performs a cold satellite acquisition after any complete power removal — first fix takes 5–10 minutes outdoors. Subsequent warm starts drop to under a minute once almanac data is cached.

GPS accuracy reduced at low battery on the Compasseo 820

The Compasseo 820 receiver draws consistent power from the cell to maintain signal sensitivity. At low state of charge — typically below 3.5V — the unit throttles receiver power to extend operation. This reduces signal acquisition strength and can cause position jumps or missed turns on active routes. Keep the cell above this threshold by connecting to a car charger on longer journeys.

Device shuts off without low-battery warning

After a battery swap, the Compasseo's fuel gauge is uncalibrated to the new cell. The software-side voltage threshold that triggers the on-screen warning may not fire before the hardware cutoff voltage is reached. The unit cuts power without the usual alert. Run two or three full charge-to-discharge cycles to let the gauge recalibrate — the warning indicator realigns to the actual cutoff point, which sits at approximately 3.0V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Compasseo 820 lost all my saved routes after I fitted the new battery — is that normal?

Yes. The Compasseo stores saved routes and POIs in battery-backed RAM. When the original cell is removed, that memory loses power and the data clears. The replacement cell restores normal operation going forward, but previously saved routes do not recover. Re-enter your saved destinations manually or restore from a backup if you exported routes to a PC before the swap.

The Compasseo 820 took nearly 10 minutes to find satellites after fitting the new battery — something wrong with the GPS?

Nothing is wrong. Removing the battery clears the cached almanac and ephemeris data the GPS receiver uses for fast fixes. Without that data the unit has to perform a full cold start, pulling fresh satellite information from scratch — that takes 5–10 minutes with a clear sky view. Stand outside with the unit powered on and stationary until the fix locks; every subsequent start will be under a minute once the almanac rebuilds.

My Compasseo 820 drains the battery much faster when I'm actively navigating versus just sitting in the car — why?

Active navigation runs the GPS receiver and the display simultaneously at high load. The receiver polls satellites continuously, and the screen stays on at full brightness for map rendering. That combination draws significantly more current than standby. Reduce screen brightness in the display settings and use a 5V car charger to offset the draw — the unit will run off the charger current rather than depleting the cell on long trips.
