Fits TP-Link TL-TR860 mobile hotspot; replaces OEM part TBL-18B5200.
3.7V and 5200mAh capacity restores full charge cycles on the TL-TR860 hotspot unit.
Connector type is proprietary TP-Link; battery seats flush with retention clip engagement confirmed.
BMS accepted voltage ramp on first insertion; no fault light or boot delay observed.
Keep the hotspot in a well-ventilated location during extended sessions — the cellular radio operates at maximum output power when devices are far away, generating significant heat that stresses the battery.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

TP-Link TL-TR860 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (TBL-18B5200)

This is a 3.7V, 5200mAh Li-ion battery for the TP-Link TL-TR860 mobile hotspot. It replaces OEM part TBL-18B5200 and fits directly into the TL-TR860 enclosure. When the original battery can no longer hold a usable charge, this unit restores the hotspot's ability to run untethered.

  • TL-TR860 fitment: The TBL-18B5200 battery is specific to the TL-TR860 platform. The connector orientation, BMS handshake protocol, and physical footprint (66.50 × 36.60 × 19.30mm) match the original cell. A mismatched BMS will trip the hotspot's low-voltage protection and prevent boot.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through full charge and discharge on the TL-TR860. The BMS communicated correctly with the device, charge termination triggered at the correct voltage, and the hotspot stayed on through the full draw cycle without thermal shutdown.
  • Ventilation during active sessions: Keep the TL-TR860 in an open, ventilated spot during extended use. When connected devices are at range limit, the cellular radio runs at full transmit power. That sustained RF load raises internal temperature and accelerates cell stress — flat on a table in open air is enough.

Why the TL-TR860 drops all connected users mid-session

The TL-TR860 runs two simultaneous high-draw subsystems — the cellular modem and the WiFi radio. When multiple devices are connected and the modem is pushing data, combined current draw can sag the battery voltage below the BMS trip threshold. This causes the hotspot to cut power abruptly rather than gracefully disconnect. A degraded original battery hits this sag point much earlier in a session than a fresh cell at full 5200mAh capacity.

TL-TR860 won't power on after sitting unused for weeks

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage, and the TL-TR860's standby draw accelerates this. If the cell drops below roughly 2.5V, the BMS locks out the device as a protection measure — pressing the power button does nothing. Connect the hotspot to a charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes before attempting to power on; most BMS circuits require a minimum threshold voltage before they re-enable the discharge path. If the device still won't respond after that charge window, check that the charger output is at least 5V 2A.

Frequently Asked Questions

My TL-TR860 keeps dropping all connected devices at the same time — is that a battery issue?

Yes, this is voltage sag under combined load. The cellular modem and WiFi radio draw simultaneously, and if the battery can't sustain current delivery, the BMS trips and the hotspot cuts out. A degraded cell hits that trip point much sooner than a fresh 5200mAh unit. Replace the battery and test with the same number of connected devices — if dropouts stop, the cell was the cause.

The TL-TR860 is draining much faster than it used to — what's actually causing that?

Poor cellular signal is the most common cause people miss. When the TL-TR860 can't get a strong signal, the modem runs at maximum transmit power continuously, which draws significantly more current than it would in a strong-signal area. Check signal strength in the admin panel — if it's low, moving the hotspot closer to a window can cut draw noticeably. If signal is fine but drain is still excessive, the original cell has lost capacity and the 5200mAh replacement will restore normal behaviour.

Will the TL-TR860 charge and communicate correctly with a third-party battery, or will the BMS reject it?

We tested this battery on the TL-TR860 bench unit and the BMS handshake completed without fault. Charge termination triggered at the correct cut-off voltage and the device reported battery status normally through the admin interface. The key requirement is that the replacement matches the OEM connector pinout and BMS protocol — this unit uses the TBL-18B5200 spec. Confirm the part number on your original battery before ordering if your unit is outside the standard TL-TR860 production run.
