Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Alcatel EE60 / Y854VB — 3.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (TLi051A2)
This is a 3.8V, 5000mAh (19Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for the Alcatel EE60 portable WiFi hotspot. It fits the EE60, EE60 4G, Y854VB, and One Touch Link Y854. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds a usable charge.
- EE60, EE60 4G, Y854VB, One Touch Link Y854: These models share the same physical footprint, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — the TLi051A2 cell slots directly into all four without firmware conflict or charge-rate mismatch.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell under combined modem and WiFi load at maximum connected-device count. The BMS held stable voltage delivery without tripping the low-voltage cutoff during the draw spike that occurs when all radio channels are active simultaneously.
- Cellular signal and heat management: When connected devices are far from the hotspot, the cellular radio runs at full output power. Keep the EE60 within a few metres of your devices — this reduces transmit power, lowers heat output at the battery, and slows cell degradation over time.
Why the EE60 drops all connected clients mid-session
When the EE60 is running at maximum client connections, the combined draw from the cellular modem and the WiFi radio creates short but sharp current spikes. An aged or degraded cell cannot sustain voltage through those spikes, causing the BMS to trip the output and reset the device. A fresh 5000mAh cell has enough internal headroom to absorb those peaks without the voltage rail dropping below the BMS cutoff threshold. If drop-outs persist after a battery swap, check that the hotspot firmware is current — older firmware has known issues with power management under load.
EE60 won't power on after sitting unused for several weeks
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage, and if the EE60 sat long enough, the battery may have dropped below the minimum boot voltage the device needs to initialise. The BMS enters a protection state and the device appears completely dead. Connect the charger and leave it for at least 30–60 minutes before pressing the power button — most BMS circuits require a trickle pre-charge phase before they release the output. If the charge LED does not illuminate within five minutes of connecting the charger, the original cell has likely failed and needs replacement. The replacement TLi051A2 ships with a partial charge sufficient to clear the boot voltage threshold immediately.

Frequently Asked Questions
My EE60 is draining its battery much faster than it used to — all I changed was moving to a 5G SIM. Is the battery faulty?
The battery is likely fine. A 5G modem draws 30–50% more power than 4G under the same conditions, and that gap widens further in areas with inconsistent 5G coverage because the radio constantly searches and reattaches. If your signal strength is borderline, the modem also runs at higher transmit power, stacking onto the 5G draw. Switch the EE60 to 4G-only mode in the device settings and check whether drain returns to normal — that confirms the modem, not the cell, is the cause.
The EE60 gets noticeably warm during long sessions and then shuts off unexpectedly — what's causing that?
Heat from the cellular radio transfers directly into the battery compartment, and once the cell temperature rises enough, the BMS triggers a thermal cutoff to protect the cell. This is more common when the hotspot is sitting in a pocket, bag, or enclosed surface that blocks airflow. Place the EE60 flat on a hard, open surface and keep connected devices close by — both steps reduce radio output power and drop operating temperature. If shutdowns still occur after improving ventilation, check that the battery contacts are clean and making full contact, as a resistive connection also generates localised heat.
After I fitted the new TLi051A2, the EE60 shows a full charge indicator but drops to empty within minutes of use — what's wrong?
This points to a charge-calibration mismatch between the new cell and the device's fuel gauge, not a faulty battery. The fuel gauge learned the capacity curve of the old degraded cell and is misreading the new one. Run the battery down until the device powers off on its own, then charge it uninterrupted to 100% without using the device — this forces the gauge to re-map to the new cell's actual capacity curve. After one full cycle, the indicator should track accurately.
