Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Tribrer AOR500 Series — 7.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (AOR500ABS)
This 7.4V, 2300mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the OEM AOR500ABS pack in the Tribrer AOR500, AOR500-s, AOR500-A, AOR500-B, and over a dozen additional AOR500-series instruments. It is a direct cell replacement for field-deployed surveying and measurement equipment where a dead pack stops a job. Capacity is 17.02Wh — matching the original specification.
- AOR500-series platform fit: All AOR500 variants share the same 7.4V power rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One pack covers the full model range without modification or adapter.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through probe initialisation and sustained sensor logging on the AOR500 platform. The BMS handled the current spike at probe power-up without tripping, and voltage held steady under continuous measurement load across multiple test sessions.
- First-use calibration on the AOR500: After installing, run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before field deployment. The AOR500 maps battery state during calibration — skipping this causes premature low-battery warnings during the first measurement session, even with a fully charged pack.
BMS lockout after the AOR500 sat unused in a carry case for months
Li-Polymer cells self-discharge slowly during storage. If the AOR500 sat unused long enough, the pack voltage can drop below 6.0V — the threshold at which the BMS enters a protective sleep state. At that point the instrument shows no response at all, not a low-battery warning. Standard chargers will not initiate a charge cycle because the pack appears dead to the charge controller. A capable charger with a recovery or pre-charge mode can push the cells back above 6.4V, which wakes the BMS and allows normal charging to resume. Do not force a fast charge before recovery voltage is reached.
Readings resetting or drifting mid-session during active data logging
Sustained sensor load — particularly when logging multiple parameters simultaneously — draws more current than any single measurement. An aged or partially discharged cell cannot maintain voltage under that continuous draw, and the resulting sag can cause the AOR500's processor to brown out and reset the active session. This is not a firmware fault. Check resting voltage before a logging session: anything below 7.2V under no load indicates insufficient charge for sustained field work. Charge to full (8.4V) before starting extended data capture.

Frequently Asked Questions
My AOR500 powers on fine but shuts off the moment I connect it to a PC for data transfer — what's happening?
USB data transfer adds a simultaneous draw on top of the instrument's own processing load. If the pack is below 7.2V resting, that combined current pull causes a voltage dropout that trips the BMS and shuts the unit down. This is not a USB port or cable fault. Charge the pack fully to 8.4V before initiating any PC transfer session.
The AOR500 won't accept a charge after the battery sat unused for several months — charger shows no activity at all.
Extended storage drains Li-Polymer cells below the BMS wake threshold, typically under 6.0V. The BMS enters sleep mode and blocks charge input entirely, so a standard charger sees no response. Use a charger with a pre-charge or recovery mode to push the pack above 6.4V first — that wakes the BMS and normal charging resumes. Do not apply fast charge until the pack reaches recovery voltage.
After fitting the new pack, the AOR500 shows a low-battery warning almost immediately even though the battery is fully charged — why?
The AOR500 maps battery state against its internal voltage thresholds during the calibration cycle. If that calibration was skipped after installing the new pack, the instrument is still referencing the degraded profile of the old cell and misreads the new pack's voltage as low. Go into the instrument menu and run a full calibration cycle — the display percentage will stabilise to the correct level once the instrument has mapped the new cell's actual voltage curve.
