Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Deviser AE4000A / E7000L — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (HYLB-1842)
This 7.4V 8700mAh Li-ion pack replaces the HYLB-1842 and HYLB-1842B batteries used in the Deviser AE4000A and E7000L surveying instruments. Both are professional total stations and field measurement devices that run extended sessions on a single charge. At 64.38Wh, this pack matches the original capacity specification exactly.
- AE4000A and E7000L compatibility: Both models share the same 7.4V battery rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The HYLB-1842 form factor fits the battery bay on either instrument without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through instrument power-on, sensor initialisation, and sustained angle-measurement logging. The BMS handled the current spike at sensor initialisation without tripping, and cell voltage held stable across the logging load.
- Field deployment preparation: After installing this pack, run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before heading to site. The AE4000A and E7000L map battery state during calibration — skipping this step causes the instrument to throw premature low-battery warnings during your first measurement session, even with a fully charged pack.
BMS cutoff when the AE4000A initialises its measurement module
At power-on, the AE4000A draws a short current spike as it powers the angle sensor and EDM module simultaneously. A degraded or deeply discharged original pack can trigger the BMS overcurrent threshold at exactly this moment, causing an instant shutdown that looks like a dead battery. This is a BMS protection event, not a cell failure. Charging the replacement pack to full before first use — confirmed by the instrument's charge indicator reaching 100% — raises resting cell voltage high enough that the BMS does not flag the initialisation spike as an overload condition.
Instrument displays unstable battery percentage between power cycles
When a new Li-ion pack replaces an aged cell, the instrument's voltage-to-percentage table is calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. On the first few power cycles, the displayed percentage can jump — showing 80%, then 95%, then 60% — as the instrument recalibrates its threshold mapping to the new cells. This is a firmware-side recalibration process, not a fault with the pack. Run two to three full discharge and charge cycles through normal field use and the percentage readout will stabilise. After the third cycle, resting voltage should sit between 8.2V and 8.4V on a full charge.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Deviser AE4000A won't charge after sitting in the carry case for several months — is the new pack dead already?
When a Li-ion pack sits discharged for an extended period, the BMS enters a deep-sleep protection state and will not accept a charge signal until cell voltage recovers above the recovery threshold. Place the pack in the instrument, connect the charger, and leave it for 30–45 minutes without interrupting the connection — the BMS re-initialises once voltage climbs above approximately 6.0V and normal charging resumes from there.
The AE4000A powers on fine but shuts off every time I transfer data to a PC via USB — what's happening?
USB data transfer adds a sustained draw on top of the instrument's active measurement load. If cell voltage sags under that combined current, the BMS reads the drop as a low-voltage fault and cuts output to protect the cells. Charge the pack fully before any transfer session and confirm resting voltage is at or above 8.2V before connecting the USB cable — this keeps the BMS above its cutoff threshold for the duration of the transfer.
My angle readings reset mid-session even though the battery indicator showed more than half charge remaining — what causes that?
Sustained EDM and angle-sensor logging pulls a consistent load that can cause momentary voltage dropout even when the pack appears partially charged. That dropout is enough to reset the instrument's active measurement session without fully powering down the unit. The displayed charge percentage is based on voltage thresholds, not real-time current tracking, so it can look healthy right up to the point of dropout. After fitting the replacement pack, run the full calibration cycle through the instrument menu so the AE4000A maps the new cell's discharge curve before your next field session.
